Dude Jonathan literally promises to go to Hell for her. He says if she becomes a vampire then he will too so she won't be alone. The only "relations" they both had with vampires came from being assulted by them. They both love eachother immensely in the book. You're remembering the movie only

But...that's not what happens in the book?? There is no Dracmina romance At All in the book, only in the movie. Dracula isn't in to her. He only turns her to get back at her and the others trying to destroy him for killing her friend Lucy. Something she hates him for doing.
