If there are folks who would like to design a couple of "FUND OUR LOCAL PUBLIC LIBRARIES" posters, holler at me at niapoetry@gmail.com and please tell me your rate for this. Poster size would be 11 by 17 landscape size.
I need to print some posters for a forthcoming event.

Libraries work because we do ✊️
I had the opportunity to confront Pete Hegseth's bigoted spiritual mentor, Pastor Doug Wilson, and call him out on his history of hate, his misreading of the Bible, his hijacking of Jesus, and his cosplay Crusading.
It was worth it.
This is a dance off. If you see this, repost with a dance or get eliminated.

Oh my goodness this game is great! Such an awesome, easy, quick training for library staff!
"In 2025, 92 percent of all book challenges were initiated by pressure groups, government officials and decision makers, up from 72 percent in 2024. Less than 3 percent of challenges originated from individual parents." 📚

Just remember, whatever stats ALA drops, the reality is even worse. A not insignificant number of schools don't report to ALA, and ALA doesn't have the staff in OIF to go out and track down this information. This looks bad, but it's likely worse.

Infographic with text: Since 2017, funding for immigration policing & detention has increased by 171% while funding for libraries has increased only by 22%. Not adjusted for inflation.
Happy National Library Week.
In less than 10 years, U.S. spending on immigration policing & detention increased by 171% while funding for libraries didn't even keep up with inflation.
Some priorities. 🤔
Do I have any New York Public Library followers who are librarians in the system?
It’s National Library Week! Rediscover your library joy this week! My library joy is seeing the amazing work of all librarians to support the needs of their patrons. #nationallibraryweek #TLSky #Skybrarian @mychal3ts.bsky.social @ilovelibraries.bsky.social
YALL.
There is a charitable organization in Chicago that donates books to women’s prisons. My boyfriend introduced me to it!!!
Yall support!! This is AMAZING. Women’s prisons do NOT get anywhere near the donations men’s do. That’s why my own organization exists.

Find out who is on your local library boards and school boards. If any of them are Republican and support censorship, it’s time to raise hell. Find out when the board meetings are, gather your friends and neighbors and give ‘em the ol’ what for
It’s the first day of National Library Week 📚
Take some time to reflect on everything libraries do and stand for and the threats they are facing.
Then think about how you can help.

A regular part of my job in a public library:
"We can all hear your conversation" hands patron earbuds.
Rinse, repeat.
*Palantir execs trying to explain their glorious vision so we’ll invite them inside*
Today, a lot of people will be talking about the manifesto that Palantir released. In addition to pouring over what those words mean, I invite you to ground the conversation in what Palantir has already done.
Its work with Israel and ICE show us exactly what it stands for.
Celebrate National Library Week
Happy National Library Week!
United States Conference of Catholic Bishops The Catechism of the Catholic Church on Just War Doctrine All citizens and all governments are obliged to work for the avoidance of war. However, "as long as the danger of war persists and there is no international authority with the necessary competence and power, governments cannot be denied the right of lawful self-defense, once all peace efforts have failed." (CCC, no. no.2308) The strict conditions for legitimate defense by military force require rigorous consideration. The gravity of such a decision makes it subject to rigorous conditions of moral legitimacy. At one and the same time: 1 The damage inflicted by the aggressor on the nation or community of nations must be lasting, grave, and certain; 3 There must be serious prospects of success; 2 All other means of putting an end to it must have been shown to be impractical or ineffective; 4 The use of arms must not produce evils and disorders graver than the evil to be eliminated. The power of modern means of destruction These are the traditional elements enumerated in what is called the weighs very heavily in evaluating "just war" doctrine. The evaluation of this condition. these conditions for moral legitimacy belongs to the prudential judgment of those who have responsibility for the common good. (CATECHISM OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH, NO. 2309) The Church and human reason both assert the permanent validity of the moral law during armed conflict. "The mere fact that war has regrettably broken out does not mean that everything becomes licit between the warring parties." (CCC, no. 2312) PRAY FOR PEACE.

That means you'll no longer be able to view archived versions of NYT stories published in 2026 and beyond on archive.org.
(All those posts you see tracking changes to NYT headlines and ledes? They relied on WBM).
1/ 🧵 Last week, data on fertility and birth rates for 2025 was released. As news networks started reporting on it, this clip started making the rounds on socials. Now, I think most people will agree with me that a drop in teen pregnancy is a good thing. But when we zoom out, there is a bigger trend.

Collage-style poster for the Black Zine Fair featuring a dynamic figure in a blue jumpsuit—depicted as The God of Craft—mid-motion, wielding oversized scissors and a pitchfork. The figure appears powerful and otherworldly, surrounded by cut-and-paste imagery of laborers, tools, and textile work in a blue, tan, and black palette. Torn paper edges and layered textures evoke zine-making and handcraft. Text reads: “Black Zine Fair,” “free + open to the public,” and event details: May 9, 2026, 11am–6pm at Powerhouse Arts, 322 Third Ave, Brooklyn, NY.
We look forward to seeing everyone online and in person. Masking is required at BZF. Registration is at no cost but we do appreciate donations from those who can afford to make them. We appreciate those of you who contributed already & made it possible for us to organize BZF.
