Humanity has been harvesting the ocean for centuries. In "Squid Jigger," the ocean starts harvesting back β€” methodically, ruthlessly, and with chilling intelligence. My story, free to read. bit.ly/squidjigger #booksky #horror

Read: All the Sinners Bleed A Novel by S. A. Cosby πŸ“šNails the atmosphere of Deep(ish) South small town revenge, tangled up in barely hidden racism, fully developed characters. Solid genre procedural but stands in its own right too. #booksky #books

We fear the dark. We fear the deep. We fear things smart enough to plan. I tried to check every one of those boxes in my short story "Squid Jigger." bit.ly/squidjigger #booksky #horror

And rich people simply *do* contribute more money to the state in absolute terms. In most countries it's something like the richest 20% contribute 80% of the tax-take. Musk, Bezos etc. have obscene amounts of money, but let's not play into the economically illiterate liberal trope.

Clearly US tax system is monstrously unfair, but technically, income tax is progressive, because (theoretically) you pay progressively more as you earn more. Contrast with flat rate taxes where everyone pays the same - sales taxes, or land taxes for example. Nuance free spittle doesn't help anyone.

An isolated man. A silent ship. A dismembered crew. And a creature that understands exactly what a gun is. That's what I built in "Squid Jigger." bit.ly/squidjigger #booksky #horror

The only reason I can think your jaw dropped would be if you've never in fact met the billionaire-owned media.

The scariest monsters aren't supernatural. They're real, ancient, and they've been watching us for millennia. My story "Squid Jigger" will make you rethink the ocean. 🌊 bit.ly/squidjigger #booksky #horror

A ghost ship. A hardened fixer. Hundreds of intelligent, vengeful squid. My story "Squid Jigger" is tense, smart, and genuinely horrifying. Read it before you sleep. bit.ly/squidjigger #booksky #horror

It's not effort. It's money.

That's great. I was reacting to the undertone in the OP that indie writers are sitting on piles of money and ripping off artists. We're not, generally.

What if the thing you've been hunting finally decided to hunt you back? That's the question at the heart of my story "Squid Jigger." Read it free. bit.ly/squidjigger #booksky #horror

You probably need to leave BlueSky if you're that purist about bots.

Tell you what - commission a copywriter to do your social media posts and then it's all fair.

Good to know. How much is 'very little', in dollar amounts? Writers know the doing stuff for exposure - short stories are pretty much freebies for exposure.

... and it's easier to write in Guardian/Telegraph style than for the Sun and Mirror. (Technically speaking).

The campaign is awful and aims to equalise facts and lies in people's minds. Part of resisting that is reading carefully, and a careful read of the BBC piece makes it clear the claims are about the disinformation campaign, not about Khan citing numbers.

The version I read had updates so seems like it gets updated and republished on Amazon every so often. IIRC there's nothing new in there for Trump et al to lie about. The author gets the juicy bits out in the media as reader magnets anyhow.

The lights were on. Nobody was home. And something in the deep had made sure of it. My story "Squid Jigger" is the ocean horror you didn't know you needed. πŸ¦‘ bit.ly/squidjigger #booksky #horror
