It was truly such an honour to conduct my MSc research at a place as prestigous as the @pirbrightinst.bsky.social As thanks for hosting me, I decided to draw the team's favourite insects as bookmarks for them.

Looking forward to being able to correspond with Pirbright in the future!

The MedPara Course had a wonderful time spending a week down in Slapton Ley getting to apply what we've learned in the field. I am so thankful to have had such a unique experience and look forward to being able to use what I learned here for my future work in vector management. @lshtm.bsky.social

I mistyped an email sign off as โ€œall the beesโ€ instead of โ€œall the bestโ€. I reckon Iโ€™m going to stick with it. I canโ€™t think of anything negative that can possibly come of wishing someone all the bees.

Had a wonderful time today at the Rainham Marsh collecting overwintering mosquito larvae and adults for population studies and identification practice. I even had some down time to go bird watching! @rspbengland.bsky.social

Exceptionally happy to get back to work with a personal project of mine. I have spent a large part of this year compiling data and writing up guides for the most up-to-date care regarding pet rats. Stay tuned for more information, but the Ribrary is projected to go live before the end of the year!

This week's rodent is the fat sand rat of North Africa and the Middle East, Psammomys obesus. Despite their name, they are actually related to gerbils. The disruption of their burrows can result in Leishmania outbreaks due to Phlebotomite sandflies using them as breeeding grounds.
