Yeah because I tried Mastodon in good faith and it was the social media experience of eating bran flakes while being glowered at by an angry German

The margins can be narrow or they can be wide, but it's still just helping us do our jobs better
I think this is true for coding as well, with some nuance. If you think AI is revolutionizing coding, then you're a booster. If you think it's a neat tool that gets you some interesting marginal gains, then you're an engineer.

Why learn to code when you can use an LLM and pay a subscription fee for the rest of your life.

Abolish ICE and fire all agents is the moderate position.

I'm not going to ask if you're doomscrolling. Everything is hard right now. But you still need to eat some food, drink a glass of water, as well as time to rest and recover.
Try not to stay up too late tonight. Sleep deprivation will make everything you need to do harder, including helping others.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH
A woodcut of a bird beside the text "i cannot see the end of this bullshit"
For example:
- Don't assert the content of error messages, as those can change for good reasons.
- When writing tests, don't write function docstrings. The test name and its code should speak for itself.
Those are opinions that don't matter, but matter enough _to me_ to write them down
As I (slowly) experiment with LLM-based code tools, I'm finding that the global configuration file is a good distillation of how I think about coding.
I wonder if your `CLAUDE.md` (or its equivalent) will become something like a "profile" for coders?
If you missed the conversation between @geoskeptic.bsky.social & @jed.co on how open tech standards evolve, using #stac as a case study, you can watch it here

ICE are thug scum.

Had a great week spending time IRL with my @developmentseed.org team in Lisbon. I work with the smartest, kindest people and I’m feeling energized to finish the year strong and looking forward to 2026. 🫶
To read and write #stac-geoparquet, you can use:
- The original reference implementation: github.com/stac-utils/s...
- A newer implementation with a lower-level API: github.com/stac-utils/r...
The tooling story is a little confusing, and we're working on it. See github.com/stac-utils/s... for more
We'll be working on the issue backlog, adding more documentation and examples, all with an intention of pushing to a v1.0 of the specification. Get involved via Github github.com/radiantearth... or by playing with #stac-geoparquet yourself!
We recently completed the move of the #stac-geoparquet specification documents to a new repository in the @radiant.earth Github org: github.com/radiantearth...
Check out the rendered HTML here: radiantearth.github.io/stac-geoparq...
Slides for my @foss4gna.bsky.social NA talk, "Cloud-Native Geospatial Metadata with stac-geoparquet" are at www.gadom.ski/presentation...
I subtitled the talk "Practical STAC", because #stac-geoparquet was motivated by real-world problems found while managing large @stacspec.bsky.social systems

I always love this conference and its wonderful mix of the technical and the personal
It's incredibly normal to feel uncomfortable being near people who are different from you. And your job as a human being is to feel a little ashamed of that, grow the fuck up, and get over it.

#foss4g-na is next week! I'll be talking Tuesday about #stac-geoparquet and running a workshop Monday with @wildintellect.com on #eoAPI. Quite a few of my @developmentseed.org colleagues will be there as well!
Stop by, say hi, and let's have a chat!
