At least Wilson is driving up the pitch count!

They are not good. But they are better than KC
Now I lay me down to sleep
I pray Leody’s runs will keep
If they should lose before I wake
I pray Elias eat by snake
Does this entire team have an average around 0.200?!
He old?
This wins the internet today for me
The world is broken.
I don’t agree. In the last few months he’s figured out most issues with AI. Huge, high-risk investment in fixed infrastructure with unknown demand. Challenges building data enters. He highlights the unsustainability of subscription model. He isn’t the most consistent, he digging right places
And importantly demand grows to meet the capacity being built
That is horrible when demand is variable. For all the electricity complaints the vast majority of cost is in physical plants (GPUs, building). The unit economics and capital demands of LLMs are horrifying. Huge fixed costs, low margins. No manufacturing company would every expand as aggressively
But all of this is built on a technology that is like million times more expensive than normal tech. So the margins on all of this are negative right now, but low forever. Infra costs for tech are not trivial, but usually gross margins are insane. AI has manufacturing gross margins.
Creative replacement is real for images, copy, small videos. There is lots of existing tech in the space that is better, so this is mainly additive or on the low end. Image generation for a pitch is diff then major marketing campaign
High value add likely scattered in use and replacing live shots
I’ve yet to see results from a drug discovery or other high end cases. Law is tough due to hallucinations. Other disciplines have a lot of workflows and AI adds risk, like accounting.
Maybe custom niche products win here.
Writing aids, research uses, productivity agents are probably table stakes at big enterprises. The gains are small, but improve QoL. $20/user/month seems sustainable across 10s M
Low billions revenue
Consumer ChatGPT is a Google replacement. It does more than that, but that is the core
Value prop. Challenge to build an ecosystem, ads, peel away mindshare from Google.
Seems difficult, but not impossible.
100B in revenue for search in total split with Google
Best case to companies is that software is a valuable enough core business to sustain building additional revenue streams. They have to fight for that revenue stream against a whole industry that can build stuff too. Open source models and agents are available.
10s of Billions in revenue
AI can’t be discussed in public because it is really multiple current products, as well as some speculative ones. No one grounds their frame of reference.
*Search replacement-mostly effective, but expensive
*Research notebooks-meh,
*Software agents-genuine change in capability
*Helper agents-meh
“Like a Prayer” still holds up and is clearly in the stolen style category.
My theory: He could pound fastballs, then they stopped throwing them. Now is looking for off speed pitches, but still can’t hit them well, and they can throw fastballs over for strikes whenever without him swinging.
Why I do what I do! Least evil tech job I can find.
How long do you give Bassitt to figure it out? End of May. Prefer Slim?
It would great for Coby to prove me wrong right now.
It is the split between the haves and the have nots, rich and within middle class. Inflation is a proxy for inequality. Social media has made lives of rich more visible. Upper middle class is doing much better than lower middle class. Housing, vehicles, gas. CPI has been kept down by globalization
It looks like you spelled Ankylosaurus wrong
I don’t know half of these dudes.
Basallo is a beast! 431 ft!!!!!!
Hard disagree, but Im the perfect millennial age to never like anyone’s mustache. Except maybe Freddie Mercury
I’ve been thinking about rereading it too. I have positive vibes about, but honestly can’t recall the plot. How is it holding up?
Steven Brust’s Vlad Taltos novels do this very well. I don’t remember the Klava recipe, but the character sold as the greatest thing ever. In my head it is a flat white coffee.
I thought it looked more like House
