I miss some people who left twitter but this site appears at first glance to be the pits in a totally new and different way
here have an image
good evening
the baal shem tov did not choose the name "chassidim," on the contrary, it was a name chosen by the misnagdim that stuck. the original name was going to be the "baalei teshuva"
he really pioneered the shameless endless chaining of low-culture metaphors phenomenon
an interesting article to be written about how Zizek's style really paved the way for Peterson and Peterson-likes and how it fits into the great enprogging of the intellectual "right"
those who happen to be right for the wrong reasons will never let me rest
Who hangs out on bluesky these days?
in general the ancients and especially medievals were not buzzfeed and made lists on what they perceived to be a precise principle of unity; there can only be 7, not 6 or 8, because they reflect some heavily tuned criteria
in general.
on the plus side he is now a millionaire
G-d runs the world.
still true minus the new followers let's gooooooooooo
joke's on you Elon, the humiliation of losing my carefully curated over years twitter environment is nothing beside the daily humiliations of life on this earth, nothing left to hurt, etc.
Synagogue the next week
Say no it was very precise and targeted and I say just like trump who you also admire I've seen his tweets and character is destiny and they say he annoys you huh? jealous huh? then I say yes that must be it anyway I'm getting another roll want anything to go with Elon's butt? Then I go to a new
Then they say but the orbit and the rockets and I say well why aren't you talking about the tunnel thing then they day what about the rockets and I say well if I was a darling of hilariously dreamlike silicon valley style investing with many billions I'd also throw stuff at a wall well and they
I have this conversation every week, some normie at the synagogue says Musk must be great, the tesla is great, then I say that's all just marketing you know that right I mean I had fun driving a tesla for a day but they're unreliable and valuing it above real companies like GM is utterly insane
I'm no businessman but the tweet platform without [checks notes] tweets seems like a bad idea
does bluesky allow timeless works of art on the platform

this site sucks though
whereas the "self-centeredness" of placing one's subjectivity above any objectivity is, counter-intuitively, the key to true self-sacrifice and duty.
All these themes will find further elaboration in the coming posts, with the help of God, and from different angles.
The only good objective to this is moral: Others objectively exist and are suffering, etc.
But the typical understanding of moral selflessness actually ends up being incredibly destructive [insert ample evidence], for reasons discussed in this post
This healthy relationship radically rewrites how one is *allowed* to view the world. It is not reenchantment by external manipulation but by inner emancipation; there is never a need to flee objectivity because objectivity is a parochial matter to the self.
A healthy relationship with objective truth, finite form, definition, shape, system, rules, and rational ideas must start from the fundamental position that we engage these things *by choice* because self, axiomatically, is beyond them.
There are already many preexisting strains of thought in our civilization that can help us to do this. "Mysticism" has many unhelpful connotations, but to me, at base, it is the profound understanding of self from the most natural position: inside one.
There is an inherent weakness to rationality, trying to live in an objective reality as a subject, etc., that allows selfishness to masquerade as selflessness.
The solution is imo a radical reconsideration of "self."
Much has been written about the social and political factors that allow the narcissist or sociopath to take control. This is my contribution to the genre but from a different angle--the philosophical factor.
This is part of an ongoing meditation on what "selflessness" has come to mean. I think we've made a terrible mistake. I think the easy selflessness of the ideologue is not selflessness at all, and in fact, selflessness has become the last defense of the scoundrel.
