Trump: "We caught a ship yesterday that had some things on it that wasn't very nice. A gift from China perhaps, I don't know. But I was a little surprised, because I have a very good relationship and I thought I had an understanding with President Xi. But that's alright. That's the way war goes."

The sheer flippancy of this "statement" is outrageous!

This is excellent by Dawn.
Yes!!! There needs to be more action taken on this - Palantir should never have been near our data.
“It’s amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.”
- Harry Truman
As Trump proves often, the reverse of this is also true.
It’s amazing how much you can fuck things up when the only thing you care about is getting the credit.
Yes, I agree.
Labour are taking action to break the connection the price of gas has on our electricity costs.
The plan involves 2 parts:
1) encouraging renewable energy generators to switch to fixed-price, long term contracts to supply energy
2) increasing the Electricity Generator Levy from 45% to 55%...

More good news from Labour....working without fanfare for us.
“Farage rarely turns up to do his actual job. Yet he finds time to jet off around the world on his donor’s private plane and trouser half a million quid while families struggle. Reform are not on your side. They’re just in it for themselves”
It’s so obvious, it hurts.

Labour's comms need to "dumb down" to get their message across to those veering towards Deform. The success of the Iranian lego videos targeting the MAGA base is a good starting point perhaps?
An important shift in perspective.
We often talk about security guarantees for Ukraine. But give Ukraine what it needs, and they will emerge as the most effective military powerhouse that modern Europe has ever known.
Ukraine will be Europe's security guarantee against Russian imperialism.
Trump yesterday: Iran better sign a deal by Tuesday or I’m blowing up power plants and bridges!
Trump today: I’m in no rush to make a deal. Time is on my side.
Today I turn 89. I’ve seen this country at its best and its worst, and I know how much community matters. For my birthday, I’m asking you to stand with PFLAG and support the work that’s helped so many in the LGBTQ+ community, including me. give.pflag.org/page/95493/d...
Happy Birthday George. 🎂
The IMF say, in their latest data, that the UK economy is now the 5th largest in the world again, over taking India.
In October 2022 the IMF said the UK economy was overtaken by India, putting the UK in 6th place ( in the middle of Truss as PM) and the UK has remained there since then.

Great news!
The hugely important Victims & Courts Bill has been considered in the Commons again tonight and has passed without vote.
Just once of Lords amendments were overturned & replaced with a new version in lieu.
This means it hopefully now just needs to go to the Lords for agreement...

...on this and then it can become law.
The bill aims to support victims and their families in the criminal justice system and strengthen the powers of the Victim's Commissioner.
A couple of specific measures include forcing offenders to attend their sentencing hearing and....

...restricting parental responsibility in specific cases.
Much of the bill follow years of campaigning by many victims and their families to seek changes in the law to prevent others facing the issues they did.
Many campaigners were in the public gallery in the Commons today to see this pass.

Yikes! I cannot watch it, switched off - I felt for our hard working travel weary PM being treated so nastily today.
We carry a responsibility to prove that government is worthy of the people it serves.
A week ago, we marked our first 100 days.
We will work every day to honor the promises we made to New Yorkers — and to fulfill the mission of the movement that brought us here.
Emily Thornberry, chair of the Foreign Affiars Select Committee, has also used her time for a question to reiterate that her committee did ask the questions to officials that should have lead to this being made known sooner and they were not given the truth either, and it's all public record.
