I am releasing this because it is the small version of what I build on contract. If your district or online program needs standards-aligned, accessible, AI-aware curriculum in another subject, or this one adapted to your context, let's talk.

There are teacher slideshows, what I currently think of for AI-resistant performance tasks, UDL, SEL, SPED + ELL scaffolds, Common Core ELA, NSQ, and WCAG 2.2 AA alignment. There are teacher guidance and pacing documents. All the bells and whistles I could think of from over 25 years of teaching.
So here it is. I turned it into an ELA course (HS or MS) and released it under Creative Commons BY-NC. Free. Yours to adapt.
You can access with the link. Aside from the course there are backup files for #Moodle and Common Cartridge (.imscc) for any LMS.
There's even an interactive RPG students can play that walks them through the course curriculum and generates reports for teachers if they want to do it that way. They're still writing, but in that instance, they are interacting with NPCs and learning about the writing process.
I thought about the way those stories build through something like D&D but most don't have experience with it, so the name of the course itself is really just a framework for the concepts. No prior D&D knowledge or products needed. Stories evolve and characters make choices.
I know a lot of students claim that they don't want to write. But I do know they want to tell stories. Students who can paste a prompt into a chatbot in three seconds will not put a lot of effort into a personal narrative unit unless the work itself is worth showing up for.
When I started testing AI tools for writing curriculum it seemed natural to start with an ELA course. I struggled with AI submissions as a teacher and I wanted to see how far I could push myself with these tools.
Here's how Creative Writing Through Dungeons & Dragons came about...
They should at least be getting the Department of Health and Human Services dietary guidelines by having “a piece of chicken, a piece of broccoli, a corn tortilla and one other thing.”

I just saw someone toasting an English muffin without having the inside cuts facing each other in the toaster slots and I can’t stop thinking about it. Wondering if I should report it to the front desk of the hotel.
are there any more things like this
I've added a RPG exploring the course content. Includes writing/reflections and a teacher report providing a detailed summary of progress that mapping activity/standards med and learner's work!
Still exploring and reviewing for bugs: inclusiveaistrategies.com/course_conte...
Want to check it out? Drop a comment or DM me and I'll set up access.
Want me to review YOUR course for this same kind of alignment — or build curriculum? Let's talk.

I've been iterating on Creative Writing Through Dungeons & Dragons based on early feedback, and it's grown into something I'm really proud of. Here's what's inside now: 🧵
I'm presenting at DLAC Ignite in Sacramento, CA. Sessions: I learned it from watching you- handling student AI use on Wednesday and LLM: Bias Engines- Identifying AI Bias and what to do about it on Thursday. February 18-20 conference.deelac.com
It's great to see all the #DLAC26 posts and how many colleagues here will be presenting!
See you soon!
To fix #Moodle #A11y errors reported with WAVE, I used Claude Code. 36 site errors to 2. WAVE AIM Score from 6.0 to 8.8.
Ran WAVE on #Canvas but I can't edit those.
If I can do this, why wouldn't every developer finally get around to fixing issues?
I suspect I know the answer.

sumerian culture invented writing and as soon as they did kids were using it to complain
there’s clay tablets that are like “what the hell mom this other kid has new clothes and his dad isn’t even as rich as us”
Love that they did a whole episode on the em dash.

New blog post: AI and the Feedback Problem
If we’re suggesting to learners they should use AI for feedback, we should also be telling them how to give instructions to the machine.

Does anyone know any middle school or high school English/Language Arts teachers that are into D&D that might be interested in course materials to teach an elective credit? I'm looking for someone who might want to pilot one and I'd love to speak with them.

But what are the stakes?
Dolorem is largely a MN collaboration that draws its strength from community. In a show of support for my MN family and roots, I am offering a couple MN Rebel Alliance items in my store.
Proceeds will be given to MN Humanities Center
