Whiplash listening to this Reform spokesperson.

Complaining energy bills are going up yet Reform support this illegal & unpopular war.

They have constantly opposed investment in green infrastructure to secure our energy security - which would massively reduce bills.

Both times were during rush hour, when impatience is at its highest, so I'm not reading too much into it. Both drivers blared their horns as a reprimand, rather than make adjustments themselves. I still remember my instructor's words about defensive driving, but I guess they've since forgotten.

And now, a driver turning right at the island but going much too fast. I saw cars indicating to leave the roundabout at the previous exit, so I knew it was safe to emerge. This car wasn't in my field of vision, so must have sped around the island... and now I was in his way. Ergo, I'm the bastard.

This is the second week in a row when I;ve been beeped at on a roundabout.

The first was indicating left to leave the roundabout, so I emerged. He then changed his mind and was going straight on instead - but I'm the bastard for cutting him up!

This song was recorded more than 50 years ago, but the lyrics are as true today as they were then. My parents are Moodies fans, but they only listen to the hits - even if I played the "Seventh Sojourn" LP to them, they'd ignore this song because Hayward's "New Horizons" follows.

There is still plenty of creative gas left in the tank, but you may have to wait.

Last Summer , I was going to make time to make music, and even invested myself into it by buying equipment, instruments etc. but wasn't able to make that materialise. My weekdays are mostly work, and my weekends are mostly household stuff that I couldn't get done during the week.

I'm sorry to announce that, several months ago, when I felt the urge to recommence music-making, it was when I felt I had something called "free time". It's going to be a while longer.

#nowplaying Pet Shop Boys' "Introspective", a ยฃ4 charity shop LP from yesterday's travels. My favourite band when I was 9, but went off them after "Very". Their contribution to Jarre's "Electronica 2" - "Brick England" - reminded me what I liked about them all those years ago.

Continuing the Bruford kick, I received a batch of new vinyl late last week, of which this was one: "Dig?", the second Earthworks album. First impressions are a bit meh - it tries not to sound so 80's, but it does, and Bill's Simmonds kit doesn't help. #musicsky #vinylsky

That is one hell of a mic-drop moment. Bravo, Zack!

That same re-organiszation also inspired a bit of a Bruford kick. I listened to the Moraz/Bruford LP "Flags" earlier this morning, but still find it more biased towards Moraz's contributions. Just behind it was this LP, where Bruford is an equal partner. That's more like it!

A re-organization of my record collection has unearthed a lot of "ooh, I haven't played that one in AGES" records, of which this is one. Robbie Robertson's self-titled debut should be ranked among the best albums of the 80s IMO: the songwriting and production are absolutely spot-on.

My wife is a member of the various Popsy groups on Facebook, and works at the same school in Tamworth that Cherish's children go to. Meeting you after the show would mean quite a lot to her, and I'd like to try and make it happen.

Hi Angela - @angelabarnes.bsky.social - my wife and I will be at your show at the Burton Brewhouse next Thursday. If we could meet you after the show - even for just a quick photo - that would be amazing. (TBC..)

Still warming to it at the moment, but have only been listening passively - first impressions were really positive (the band definitely sounds inspired and energized) but I feel this is one where I *really* need to block an hour out where I can sit down and listen to it with the lyric book open.

* Alberto, not Andrea ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Who was I thinking of?

And no, it wasn't the Italian singer with the initials A.B. that my mum likes.

Another excellent pre-order from @burningshed.com, arrived 2 whole days early, and just in time to enjoy it over lunch. I went through their pre-order list just after Xmas and added stuff direct to my cart, so the postcard signed by Greg and Andrea was a VERY nice surprise! Thanks again Pete & co ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

I have to look on the bright side. Despite being born in the West Midlands, I am the son of a 3rd Gen Irish Immigrant. If Reform gain power and my family and I get deported to the woke EU hellhole that Ireland is supposed to be, I won't be the one complaining.

The Marching Song of the Covert
The Marching Song of the Covert YouTube video by Billy Bragg - Topic

Have a listen to this song by @billybragg.bsky.social - it was recorded 30 years ago, but encapsulates a lot of today's politics in its lyrics. The EP it comes from also contains a song called "I Dreamed I Saw Phil Ochs Last Night" which triggered my recollection.

It confirms a theory of mine: @timbowness.bsky.social is a better vocalist than many around today, including those who found success through talent shows. He may lack the power and vibrato that sells on TV, but he knows exactly what is needed and when: his ear and his voice are perfectly in tune.

Because @burningshed.com are so brilliantly efficient with their pre-orders, I've been able to listen to the 30th Anniversary vinyl re-issue of No-Man's "Loveblows..." two whole days in advance. โฌ‡๏ธ

I know for a fact my Dad drank Banks's Mild: a beer so weak, ten pints wouldn't get a hamster even remotely tipsy ๐Ÿ˜†

My dad knew a few in the area, but by the time he could politely make such a request, he was too drunk to form the sentence "Can my son have your Labi Siffre record when you're finished with it"? Well, that's what my mum told me.

I know this has seemingly little to do with your original post, but those 80's compilation franchises were a great way to get hold of the hits your mum wouldn't let you have, and your Dad couldn't scrounge an ex-jukebox copy from the pub landlord ๐Ÿ˜†.
