Thank you @jonny-walker.bsky.social for a fab, fun , inspiring writing workshop today; the children shared their enthusiasm and ideas all the way back to school. Looking forward to getting stuck into your book for some more advice on how to teach poetry .

Peanuts cartoon by Charles M Schulz, showing Lucy and Linus looking at a library, talking about the incredible things that libraries do for us all
No child should have to grow up in a world without libraries. Attack libraries, and you attack children themselves. #SaveLibraries

With a great text, it’s the work you do that sets up the greater depth writing. We’ve had some beautiful work in Year1 using ‘The Dark’ and’The bear and the piano’ in Year 2 has been great. ‘The secret sky garden’ has produced some great writing too,
There’s so many. I’ve really loved using ‘Arthur and the Golden Rope’ and ‘Mouse, bird, snake, wolf’ in Year 3. Also live Varjak Paw and currently doing ‘The Wild Robot’ which the kids are loving.
We use really high quality texts, many of which are picture books and really get immersed in the text. We use a lot of art and drama in the build up to writing . The children are so engaged and involved in the writing. It’s more meaningful and they’ve had a chance to really explore the language.
Q1: Writing has clear sense of audience and purpose with their own writer’s voice. They take risks with their writing and are able to apply ideas from their reading.
We moderate regularly as phases . We use high quality text and the CLPE approach, incorporating lots of drama to really engage.
The three Billy Goats Gruff illustration by the wonderful Jon Klassen has us all laughing out loud.
So important that we recognise this in schools
All the best; just do what you do and you’ll smash it .

I’m doing the UCL version and getting lots out of it. Have also found coaching to be really valuable.
I’m enjoying doing my NPQSL, I’ve found it really helpful to carry out my implementation project and I feel it’s helping me to develop my leadership skills. #PrimaryRocks
Q1: I’d say follow your passion, I’ve led EAL provision at my school for years and now am leading English. All things I feel passionate about whilst still remaining class- based. I’ve also been a facilitator for ECTs , which I’ve enjoyed.#primaryrocks
