EU reinforces the stability and predictability of its carbon market The Commission has today announced a first concrete measure to reinforce the European Union Emissions Trading System (EU ETS).

In response to Trump's War in Iran, the European Commission this week published a proposal to amend the EU's CO2 price.

The problem is that the proposed changes are exactly backward: they degrade the long term CO2 price with little to nor relief in the short term. 🤦‍♂️

Big EU lobby groups exaggerated industry support for attack on carbon price A letter to EU leaders was issued ‘on behalf of’ 1,300 signatories. Some firms deny they supported the demands.

An influential industry petition criticizing the European Union’s core climate policy implied its demands were supported by some 1,350 companies and associations.

Now some firms deny they signed up.

Correlation ≠ causation

There is no proven or provable link between companies investing in carbon credits and their internal emission levels. The narrative must shift away from greenwishing and towards credible climate strategies 🧐

Shaping the EU’s 2040 Climate Target | GreenDeal-NET Blog analysing the EU’s 2040 climate target, weakened ambition, international carbon credits, and risks to procedural climate governance under the amended Climate Law.

🎯 How ambitious is the EU’s 2040 climate target?

A 90% reduction goal is set to be added to the European Climate Law, but risks remain: below ESABCC advice, carbon credits, weaker review rules and delayed implementation to 2026.
