A Friendly Introduction to Container Queries • Josh W. Comeau It’s been a couple of years since container queries started landing in browsers… so why isn’t anyone using them? It turns out that container queries are kinda tricky; they’re not as straightforward as...

🌠 For years, the #1 most requested feature in CSS was Container Queries. We wanted them so badly!

Well, they’ve arrived… and none of us are using them. 😂

I think I know why, and I just published a new blog post that will hopefully change that!

Check it out:

Sponsor @lpil on GitHub Sponsors Gleam: Making type safe programming a production ready reality on the Erlang virtual machine!

Gleam's sponsor count has dropped this month.
Sponsorship is how I pay my bills, and the majority of it comes from individuals giving a few dollars a month.

If you appreciate Gleam and can afford it please consider sponsoring the project, thank you 💜

diagram with multiple application+hosting boxes. each box contains some users and some posts. data is sent between the boxes.

a diagram with two layers. in the top layer, users choose hosting (and their data is stored in their hosting). the data then flows down from hosting into separate apps which mirror and aggregate the data they receive from hosting. the hosting boxes are drawn with dashed borders to indicate they're not fixed, and the user may move their data between different hosting without affecting the applications.

i wonder if diagrams like these might help draw the distinction between ActivityPub (and how Mastodon uses it) and AT Protocol (and how it’s used by Bluesky and atproto apps)?

with AP, instance = application + hosting. data gets sent between instances.

with AT, data flows *from* hosting *to* apps
