The press is literally treating Trump's attacks on Pope Bob as a both-sides partisan spat. The pathology of US political journalism!
"I will continue to speak out loudly against war." Pope Leo XIV
Statement from Cardinal Joseph W. Tobin, C.Ss.R., Archbishop of Newark In response to recent events, I reaffirm that Pope Leo serves a higher authority and desires to proclaim the Gospel faithfully and advance the Church’s peaceful mission in a world deeply in need of healing. He will continue to speak clearly against war and other offenses against human dignity and to call for authentic dialogue, because the Church’s witness is grounded in the peace of Christ, not in partisan interests. Recent statements and actions by the President of the United States convey a grave misunderstanding of the Holy Father's ministry and a troubling lack of respect for the faith of millions. The graphic exploitation of sacred imagery is deeply offensive and undermines the reverence owed to what believers hold most dear.
NEW from Cardinal Tobin of Newark — one of the papal electors at the conclave that ultimately chose Pope Leo — regarding Trump's recent posts about Leo and the Jesus-like image:
Says POTUS shows a "lack of respect for the faith of millions," and calls the Jesus-like image "deeply offensive."

"The threat of destroying a whole civilization and the intentional targeting of civilian infrastructure cannot be morally justified." --

HOUSTON: Integrity Houston You are six minutes from your 40-minute lunar flyby LOS. From all of us, it's a privilege to witness you carrying the fire past our farthest reach. Thank you. Godspeed. VICTOR GLOVER: Thank you for that, Jenny. And thank you to all of you for allowing us the immense privilege to be on this journey together. It's quite amazing. And as we go on this journey, thinking about the NASA mission to explore the unknown in air and space, to innovate for the benefit of humanity and to inspire the world through discovery — and as you've gone along on this journey with us, hopefully we're doing just those things. And as we get close to the nearest point to the moon and farthest point from Earth, as we continue to unlock the mysteries of the cosmos, I would like to uh remind you of one of the most important mysteries there on earth — and that's love. Christ said in response to what was the greatest command that it was to love God with all that you are. And he also, being a great teacher, said this: I give you equal to it, and that is to love your neighbor as yourself. And so, as we prepare to go out of radio communication, we're still able to feel your love from Earth and to all of you down there on Earth, and around the Earth, we love you from the moon. HOUSTON: Houston copies, we'll see you on the other side.
Oh: Shortly before the Artemis II Orion craft flew around the moon yesterday, entering a 40-minute period of radio silence, Astronaut Victor Glover — who has been open about this faith — took a moment to reflect on Christian scripture.
The passage he chose: love your neighbor as yourself.

Black text on white background “Happy Easter, New York! Today, millions of New Yorkers celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ and the victory of hope over despair and faith over fear. As the air warms and cherry blossoms begin to bloom, this holy day is a sacred time to pause and reflect on a season of rebirth. Whether you spend this day singing in pews, parading on Fifth Avenue, joining a processional guided by the bamboo trumpets of Haitian Rara music, or hunting for painted eggs amidst the spring grass, I wish every New Yorker celebrating a joyous day. Let us all embrace this holiday's spirit of hope and renewal as we build the City — and the world — that we deserve.”

I don't know. sounds like ole St Paul is doing a bit of introspecting here: "I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. ... For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out." - Romans 7:15-20
