It is absolutely incredible that HMRC thought (and still thinks) that it is acceptable to tell every sole trader in the country that they have to file digitally, but that HMRC isn't providing any means to do, that you probably need to get some software from somewhere, and that it sucks to be you.

If you see this post an image you saved because it made you laugh.

also music + trains + fun web projects = @dracos.co.uk who might also like this :-)

Obsidian. No special extensions or anything; only a (heavily cross-linked) wiki. Is only for me, though. I hadn’t thought about the idea of the players having access to (a subset of) it!

This sounds OK! I've certainly sat in worse jazz bars. I'm gonna need @brucel.bsky.social or someone to explain to me WHY it can sound OK while being generated the way it is, though. This is going to be like when someone explained to me about wind chimes being pentatonic, isn't it?

Okay so you might see this video with the audio muted. Now imagine how the music must sound like. I urge you to unmute and listen to what it's actually like because I guarantee you you're not prepared for it.

another fun game!
that took quite a while, although admittedly I was convinced that one of them was "white" and it wasn't :)

maybe I'm missing something here (spoilers for anyone else browsing!)

But it says box-sizing = z + is bozing, and that's not right; the missing letter is marked as z, but I think the anagram fodder should be "is boxing" in that case?

trying!

(bug report: I think the "is bozing" one is wrong?)

I've just done a previous one of these games, for HTML elements, at comicss.art/games/20/. It is hard! I had to cheat by looking at the MDN page for one of them which I'd never heard of.

Even better: stop treating tech monopolies as if they're an immovable part of the landscape which we can only accept, ban, or regulate. We have the means to replace toxic social apps with better ones, including youth-designed and youth-governed alternatives.

My dad would say that the pickled egg should be in a bag of Worcestershire sauce flavour crisps, although I don’t think I ever saw him have this thing. It sounds delicious, though :-)

I would love to watch that!

secretly hoping this is not a typo. God knows half of my characters seem to have this manoeuvre even though they don't want it; I see no reason why Crows should be any different :-)

I haven't got the book, but I have got the "splinters", a sort of PDF preview of it, and it's neat. I especially like some of the art: whoever did the style where it all looks blurred and distorted, like this picture that leads in a chapter, has a very nice style indeed. Wish I knew how to do that!

that's cool!

confirmed the same on iOS. I did wonder whether switching into and out of Reader Mode might also trigger it (or show the text in reader mode) but it doesn't offer reader mode for this page in iOS safari

but one thing you can try is to stick an archive.org prefix on the front of a URL. For example, developer.paciellogroup.com/blog/2018/07... now redirects. But making it web.archive.org/web/2019/htt... (that is, putting web.archive.org/web/2019/ on the front) redirects automatically to a 2018 archive

aha, neat, that waybackpack thing looks good.
It's possible that they've just broken links (sigh, cool URIs don't change) but the posts are still there somewhere... but this does seem rather like a Sign From Somewhere to grab the text for archival purposes perhaps, doesn't it?

ah, from that one can at least find SOME Nomensa posts: web.archive.org/web/20210413... , and "older posts" works for the next page, but not thereafter.
This would be a slow process of digging, which is not helped by the Wayback's (understandable) slowness and (less understandable) lack of a11y

This is the 5th edition book I had here in the UK when I was a kid. I can still quote it much from memory; the stuff about Fang, bits of rules here and there. I think having read this and Dragon Warriors and Titan as well as D&D/AD&D gave me a sense of range in fantasy ttrpgs which helps to this day

the wayback machine has APIs but they are unfortunately full of lies, in my experience. I did have a quick look to see if I could find a page from their blog that you'd written in the hope that there would be a "see all posts by this author" link but I couldn't find a post; do you know an old URL?

“If it can be done on the web, it can be made fast, accessible, flexible, resilient, and maintainable”
This is 100% true. If you need a thing built, then obviously you should call me. But if I’m busy or not clever enough for your thing, you should talk to @wil.to. He’ll do what you want, on the web.

It's my own fault for using ChatGPT as a search tool, but this really made me laugh. "...with an important nuance..." is sublime 🤌
