It's fantastic that living writers affected by this are fighting back. But at the risk of sounding like a broken record, had Grammarly stuck to *dead* writers there would be no legal recourse available. Lawmakers need to stop thinking purely in terms of IP rights and start legislating for dignity.

I struggle with framing it as a choice between two states, especially when both have inflicted suffering for so many. Maybe it’s not about choosing a side. I just hope we can all hold space for grief, complexity, and compassion.

I think you care, otherwise you wouldn’t be engaging at all. I have family and loved ones in Iran. I am worried and scared. All I ask is that we try, even briefly, to put ourselves in each other’s shoes. And if you’re living somewhere safe and peaceful, I hope you get to feel that privilege deeply.❤️
