“Folks, uh, from the cockpit. That noise you heard, we uh, well we appear to have lost an engine. But it’s no problem we’ll be just fine.”
Competence. Accept no substitute.
Thanks Marc-Andre. As you know only too well, lots of catching-up to do in this space.
In this piece, we build on what @maargentino.com and colleagues characterize as a 'hybridization of harms', and call for new interdisciplinary approaches to collaboration between clinicians, law enforcement, and researchers.
Current models of #radicalization are not equipped to deal with the rapid convergence of multiple, overlapping harms, especially in the context of Com networks. I recently collaborated with Max Taylor and Ethel Quayle on this new piece for Perspectives on Terrorism.

Not a single terrorist I've interviewed ever talked about killing people "just for fun."
@chetibby.bsky.social Hey now. Just read your piece on incoherent violent extremism in the Jl of Policing, Intel and CT. Really good stuff. Finishing up a similar paper with my PhD researcher Morgan Shayler, and will incorporate yours. Appreciated your points about MUU not being a 'holding pen.'
Recently had an opportunity to collaborate with the great Clare Allely, with colleagues Courtney Tassin and Sonya McLaren, for an analysis of the Arapahoe High School attack of 2013. Just published in the Journal of Threat Assessment & Management.

Three climbers - left to right - Frank McCarthy, Mickey Gutwein, and John Horgan on the summit of Carstensz Pyramid, west Papua.
Temporary escape from the insanity. Summit of Carstensz Pyramid, west Papua, about 48 hours ago. Highest peak in Oceania and one of the fabled Seven Summits. Very technical climbing and lucky to have had great conditions. L-R Frank McCarthy, Mickey Gutwein, me.
Non-US tv news currently has the most measured and informed context from regional experts and seasoned correspondents. BBC, Al Jazeera, France 24, etc.
Hello new followers. I’m John Horgan, a professor of psychology who studies terrorist behavior. Don’t believe anyone who says they know what is going to happen next. Nobody does. Believe the Trump administration least of all. The informed voices are out there. Seek them out.
Definitely grounds for conviction.
I checked one of my DOIs just now. Says "back shortly" (?)
Perpetually.

🚨🎙️This might be the most important episode of Secure Line we've ever done.
We speak to Dr. Emily Corner about grievance-fuelled violence, school shootings, and Tumbler Ridge.
Please listen, and share with friends and family.

The University of Texas system has voted to limit 'controversial topics' in class. Where's the academic freedom?
"A faculty member is not going to be able do talk about current events without risking being fired. What kind of education is this?"
