These are my personal opinions, you're free to disagree, but there is something magical in taking older games exactly for what they are, problems and everything.

It greatly pleases my brain to run into an obvious Issue with a game and give off a hearty "Oh youuuu"

Don't update the textures or models of my favourite environments!

I want to spend minutes looking at something trying to decipher what might've been lost in the downscaling process!!

Don't give me speedup or rebalanced XP distribution in RPG rereleases!

I'm here to mindlessly grind and replay segments with bad save point placements!

I don't want spindashing or savestates in my sonic 1!

Sure i can disable them or just not use them but there's something about not being given the option that tickles me!

I love playing the original releases of games instead of their remastered or modernized ports

Give me framedrops, give me problematic game systems, give me janky controls or the inability to save...

Those things are what make those older releases so precious to me!!!

To expand on this, while I think TF2s blood and gibs are tastefully implemented, the censorship of the German version has a distinct humour to it that makes me prefer it to the regular release

Nothing reminds me more of the fact I am German than buying retro shooters at flea markets and seeing all the bad guys replaced with robots and the blood with green slime or rubber ducks in them.

I am against censorship as much as the next guy, but German censorship had something whimsical about it

Depends on the type of landscape, for realistic leaning landscapes I tend to either look at vacation photos or go for a hike to get inspiration. Usually I tend to have a decent memory for those. For fantasty type landscapes I wing it.
