After being discouraged by school, Alabama songwriter Jahnah Camille turned to other musical spaces as a way of nurturing her coming-of-age indie sleazegaze songs.

Punk will always be a lifeline for misunderstood kids left out in the rain – Spiritual Cramp’s Michael Bingham tells us why.

My fave substitute so far! A bit more expensive, but the value for the family plan rivals Spotify.
I love Qobuz!! Insane audio quality, and they have editorial pieces on there.
a lot of millionaires think that the lower/lower middle class wants to take all of the millionaires' money from them when in reality we just want to live in a society where we don't have to think twice about topping up our public transport cards
From post-dictatorship underground punk to macabre childhood games through Romanticism Era writing, green star’s north stars are as unlikely as their fateful cross-continental formation.
also mad respect to the christian rock genre as of late you guys are killing it
this story alone made me roll around on the floor laughing – 5 million?? from nearly 10 years ago?? c'mon now. if i was owed 5 million, i would be hiring a lawyer, a publicist, and calling for a press conference. jesus fucking christ. bffr.
i do think however i hold myself to the standard of people who have been doing my job for the last 10, 20 years. i do not ever think of my skills in relation to my age, but rather, what i'm able to do. however, an important part of skill is also time spent developing a skill. a double-edged sword.
been having a lot of fun writing for different pubs and learning all of the different styles :) www.thelineofbestfit.com/features/int...
with the resurgence in vinyl and print media, i'm waiting for music biographies to come around again. patiently.

i'm terrified by the fact that he hasn't even been occupying the white house for 6 months yet. and things have gone this far. it will take years to redo everything that has been undone. i am so ashamed. and i hope every single american is too.
people are getting SNATCHED off the streets, from their jobs, their homes... children are being kidnapped from schools and daycares. i've *just* checked my bluesky for the first time in about a week and the first thing i see is that they're now focusing on NANNYs and CHILDREN in parks. fuck ICE.
i've genuinely had to disconnect myself from most media over the last few weeks. it's a privilege to be able to do that as an american right now, but i'm genuinely struggling to cope with the endless headlines about how america is pretty much falling to pieces and no one is doing anything to stop it
fucking around and finding out that i am indeed disabled and that my disability disables me is truly wild
no one does it like delilah ⚔️🥵
the damage has been done. it's irreversible. most we can do is educate ourselves and those around us about what journalism is, does, and why it's important we pay for not only entertainment, but journalism to make sure the people providing us with the correct information can continue to do so.
however we're also in a period of time where misinformation and disinformation are more common than truthful information, so publications and newspapers can't really afford to put their articles behind paywalls again because the education journalism provides is needed now more than ever.
the way around this? capitalise off of print. and the idea of print. whether it's a PDF on a website you can also buy a physical copy of, it's the only way for publications to make money. people are tired of staring at screens – they do it for 8+ hours a day for work. print is a way around that.
combine that with big media companies coming in and buying publications and slashing budgets to the point where they can't afford staff writers, or to even have a decent freelancing budget to keep up with the demand for entertainment.
publications started removing paywalls in order to compete with the free entertainment but in doing so failed to realise that would cause them to not be able to afford to keep up and compete with the amount of entertainment hitting the internet. so, publications are now understaffed and overwhelmed.
wanted to be entertained? you paid for it. films, tv shows, magazines, books – you paid for all of it. whether it was through a television service or paid for tickets to a film, you handed over money to be entertained. now, people open their phones, or a single app, and can be entertained for free.
