Back in 1990 when we moved from York to N. Ireland we listened to Jerry Goldsmith’s “Best Shot” (Hoosiers) through the car stereo whilst driving to the ferry ⛴️. When I listen to this thrilling score today it brings back so many mixed emotions! Happy Birthday to the late, great Jerry Goldsmith!

Very sad news that the pioneering arts legend Sir Humphrey Burton CBE has passed away. We first met in 2018 during my Ely Cathedral event which presented his classic 1973 film of Leonard Bernstein conducting Mahler 2. We kept in touch ever since and it’s a collaboration I’ll always treasure. RIP ❤️
Congrats Maurizio for providing excellent writing for Decca Classics’ new Braveheart Anniversary Edition. Needless to say it’s a joy to see all of the London Symphony Orchestra musicians listed after 30 years 👏❤️ Hugh Seenan’s stunning French horn solo during the opening still sends shivers 📯👌

Yet another hugely successful Hans Zimmer Live show in Dublin’s 3Arena. A new “composer cut” of Gladiator was stunning and the star cellist did a beautiful job on Hannibal. The audience was in tears. Best of all though, and not surprising for those who know me, 6 French horns were given 🙌📯by Hans! ❤️

There’s a special symmetry to this anniversary event with the original cast of YOUNG SHERLOCK HOLMES. The film is 40 years old and Bruce Broughton is 80 years young. The cast received a lovely video message from Bruce congratulating them and José (Quartet Records) sent 💿. The score is a true classic

28 Years Later is really something! A visceral experience that will leave a lasting impression. Opening with a thumping soundtrack with militaristic speech samples, leading to some very moving writing for strings. The raw emotion though, that’s what Boyle & Garland deliver for a solid 2 hours!
