Some people just seem to want to eliminate all potential sources of discomfort, no matter how small or innocuous, from their lives. Fiction allows you to model experiencing big emotions in a safe controlled setting, and I just don't think any good comes of avoiding that to this degree

Also: what is GNU? It's a Terry Pratchett invention, and one that I felt ought to include the great Tom Lehrer.

GNU Tom Lehrer, who passed away over the weekend at 97. If you're not familiar, I really encourage you to check out his work. This song feels especially relevant to our current climes:

I had such a good time at SDCC catching up with everyone! If I missed you, I hope it's because you were too busy having a great time, too :)
Amc plus, you are speaking my language, but also it's very funny how the further you scroll in this micro-category, the closer and closer you get to sharknado
Two 3-month-old kittens sleep in a perch. One is gray, lying with his tummy up, left paw raised and lower legs sprawled. His brother, a black kitten, takes up about a quarter of the space in the perch. Both look content.
These kittens have now broken two bowls on two separate occasions in their desperation to eat the food as immediately as possible. They're available for adoption, if anyone is interested in the hungriest boys on earth!

I assumed NBC Hannibal took place in 1970s Maine, just based on gifs I'd seen. I got 70s from the cut of Hannibal's suits and Maine from the antler imagery and Will's flannels?
It also occurs to me I should've posted something similar when I was let go from BOOM! Better late than never, I guess. Still teaching me stuff when we're not even working together anymore ;P
David is amazing, wherever he ends up next is gonna be lucky to have him!
The kittens have now read Dune. They also watched the Barbie movie and DND movie.
I just remembered (at 8 pm) that my dream last night involved someone who honestly believed that saying Beetlejuice three times would summon, but that I kept having to refer to him, so I started calling him Juicy Beetle to make them feel better?? I have never seen this film.
picking something that I didn't want to actively listen to myself was surprisingly difficult. Cause... you know, I'm gonna be asleep for most of it. Ended up picking something I've already read instead of something I have no interest in.
it's supposed to be good for socializing kittens to leave music, a podcast, a TV show, or something playing, to make them get kind of used to human voices. So I've decided to leave a speaker playing the audiobook of Piranesi, read by Chiwetel Ejiofor, for the lads tonight. Hope they like it!
I've been hiding the kitten in a hand embroidered, sequined purse that a friend gave me, but the zipper keeps busting open
The pope is pregnant. She's also Melanie Lynsky's character from Ever After. When the baby is full-term, they do a c-section, only the incision becomes a horrific maw and there is a demon in there, not a baby. I am still concerned about the kitten and have to find a foster who can handle ringworm.
today's fever dream: found an orange kitten with ringworm, his he has like a tonsure. Have to sneak him past the newly-elected pope, who is a woman. Lucrezia Borgia, who is Danielle from Ever After, is so angry that she isn't the first woman pope, that she poisons the pope, putting her in a coma.

every time I see a waymo in the wild, I think of this image, and the fact that about 50% of the time, presumably, waymos are out there with 0 people in them.

The security guy who works at the parking lot they live in says there are 3 kittens total, not 2 like we thought. So there's still one at large (at tiny).
We caught kitten #2! It turns out that the ideal bait for kittens is kittens.
I'm a bit confused about what's going on with this particular trap (there are 3 total), because this is the second time it's caught a cat when I was SURE I hadn't left it set, but since this time it's a cat I was trying to catch I'll take it!
Last night I saw this kitten sniffing around the trap, and then when they saw me they tried to scramble into that pipe, then realized it's not actually hollow all the way thru and/or they're getting too big to fit. I almost coulda grabbed 'em then, but I'm SO excited they finally fell for my tricks

Oh my god, the security guy from the parking lot, Ernesto, texted me this morning! A baby has been captured!!
I've recently started bringing a laser pointer with me everywhere I go on my keys, purely for the neighborhood cats. Highly recommend!
today Spotify gave me an ad for a plastic surgeon followed by an ad for a podcast about ozempic, so uh... today on 'jesus christ is this what they're advertising to women in their 30s?'
Help if you can!
