All of US need 2 be very aware & demand transparency regarding where OUR $$$$ is being shifted around 2 (track price increases & then “refunds” paid 2 importers) & use collective action & campaigns— petitions, boycotts, & coordinated purchase withdrawals— 2 signal demand reduction until prices drop.
But again… CPB. Legitimate businesses need 2 protect themselves & support audits by collecting & retaining documents 2 verify refund beneficiary & bank details before accepting refunds & escalate/hold when documentation is missing or inconsistent. Congress/IRS/Media will need 2 also follow the $$$$.
Before refunds are paid they SHOULD REQUIRE claimant identity & beneficial‑owner verification, original payer’s verified bank account, checks 4 duplicate / high-risk claims, sanctions/PEP screening, original duty receipts/import declarations, verified tariff classifications/values/quantities, ETC.
