The Rangers are doing a damn good job of trying to outdo the Astros for the title of Worst Texas Baseball Team.

Good for him but I am tired of learning about all the ways a 41-year-old candidate for U.S. Senate supposedly has a lot more growing and learning to do. Maybe do that before the Senate? And maybe try out a lower office before then?
Or maybe we just watch him blossom into another Sinema/Fetterman.
Yeah, we discussed critically the issues around Gaetan Dugas last class.
Yup! We’re going to touch on that tomorrow. And we’re going to discuss how as bad as Reagan was, imagine if AIDS unfolded now…
It's what got me into politics. (Well, first the HBO adaptation. I was a 7 year-old walking around my elementary school shit-talking Ronald Reagan... in 1993.) Reading the book came later, and is the most impactful book I've ever read, and it's my second time teaching it. Sooooo poignant.
It's what got me interested in politics from the very beginning. My second time teaching it and the discussions have been great. It holds up remarkably well.
Yeah, it's wild that this part of history really isn't taught. I know my class is the only health policy class here that addresses it.
I'm finishing teaching And the Band Played On tomorrow in my Health Law and Politics class, and as I finish my lecture prep, I came across an absolutely batshit LA Times poll from 1985 that is making me tear my damn hair out.
It’s not that I don’t view cutting off the dead raccoons penis as weird it’s more that I think having a dead raccoon penis research laboratory at home is more weird
Mamdani delivers a master class every time in how to communicate politically.
When I rescued Miss Maude, she was 1.5 pounds of floof who would crawl up my leg to get my attention. Today, this sweet, darling clown turned 11 years old, and I simply can’t imagine a world without this perfect creature.
Please more attention to this.
I'm teaching a Health Law & Politics class this semester, and I had my students describe a health law that they'd like to see enacted, and analyze its legal foundations and political feasibility.
Grading their paper excerpts now & thinking what a great world it'd be if these laws were implemented.
This is empirically false. 92% of Medicaid recipients are working or would be exempt from work reqs, but we know from experience with Arkansas that documentation proves onerous, esp with multiple jobs with inconsistent hours or gig work. And 2/3 of coverage losses from unwinding were procedural!
Insane byline. What's the opposite of nightmare blunt rotation
America's right-wing in a single exchange. It's perfect.
Maude says thanks, Darth!

We have reached the “sits bolt upright at 5am because of a horrifying dream about a typo on the cover of my book” stage of preparation for next week’s book release.
What kind of Orwellian stuff is this? "addresses free speech on college campuses" by banning walkouts? I oppose the heckler's veto but come ON
Exactly two weeks from today, I'll be doing the book launch for my book Coverage Denied: How Health Insurers Drive Inequality, at the White Whale Bookstore in Pittsburgh! Even if you're not local, you can register for the livestream of our health policy convo! www.eventbrite.com/e/book-launc...
Great news: The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette is not going to be shuttering after all, thanks to a new buyer. (And apparently not the highest bidder, but the best for our local journalism.) I hope we'll see a day when newspapers don't have this precarity, but for now, a win. www.wtae.com/article/pitt...
U. S. Constitution, Article II, Section 2: "The President shall be Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy of the United States, and of the Militia of the several States, when called into the actual Service of the United States..."
love it when the courts undermine the power of the courts, that is how checks and balances are supposed to work just as Montesquieu intended
I love Austen

Repeat after me:

I woke up at 4am with the soundtrack to This Is Spinal Tap stuck in my head, and I have an idea for Cal Raleigh's walk-up music...
After working 13+ hours today, I aspire to Stella levels of zen.

HPV vaccines have NOTHING to do with “parental values”, as RFK Jr.’s surrogate claims.
You could have sex with a single partner—your spouse—and become infected.
If your parental values include a desire for your child to die from a vaccine preventable disease, your values need an adjustment.
