They did stop at the ticket office briefly to get a map, which helpfully pointed them in the direction of the BCAM building, where all the modern stuff was. Minho appeared immediately enthralled, walking with his hands behind his back, eyes bright. It was annoyingly endearing.
“Wah, it’s so big,” he said as they came to a truly enormous sculpture taking up an entire room’s worth of space. “How do you think they got it in here?”
“There are some really big barn doors hidden in the wall, and they used a crane,” Kibum answered absently, skimming information about the piece, Richard Serra’s Band, on his phone.
“Wow!” Minho said, walking toward it, clearly intending to trace a path in and out of its sinuous, tilted lines. He stopped and looked quizzically back at Kibum. “Aren’t you coming?”
Kibum finally stopped scrolling, having found the information he was looking for. “Yes,” he said decisively, but he must have looked more relieved than he meant to let on, because Minho knocked into his shoulder lightly as he caught up.
“What were you looking up?”
“Just more information about the piece.”
“More than what’s written next to it here?”
Kibum tried not to wince as he looked up at the giant wall of steel now looming over him. “If you must know, I wanted to find out how it stays up. If it was just through tension, some random person bumping into it could cause multiple tons of metal to fall on me, and that is not how I intend to die.”
Minho was grinning at him now. Kibum studied the wall to his right with intense concentration. The patina was really very interesting.
“I don’t know, a freak art museum accident sounds fairly classy. I take it we’re not in imminent danger?”
“No, all the panels stand upright on their own. Thankfully.”
Everyone look at my @viewfest.bsky.social prize from yeraart!!! The prompt was free choice of a favorite scene from my Minkey fic, and I am delighted that it ended up being this one!
