Much like watching videos about how to do #Agentic #AI #security "right" and realizing that just about nobody is going to do that once much less every day for the rest of the service lifecycle; the chances that those hard-won lessons are being applied to most AI projects seem mighty close to zero.

I have to admit that Nancy Leveson's "Engineering a Safer World" has languished a bit on my reading list. I pick it up for a case study here and a chapter there from time to time, but reading it in the age of #VibeCoding, #AI or bust, #Agentic or die, etc. just hits differently.
Well... You have a point there... A former roommate and I made our own anytime we needed it for a recipe... 👍
The people who think mayonnaise is a first-class condiment? 🤣
Did AI write this article?
I believe Mein Schiff 4 and Mein Schiff 5 (so creative! ;-) were both bottled up in the Persian Gulf and both made the run just off the Omani coast about the same time...

[cackle of mad laughter] Oh? Do tell! They were underwriting the unlimited risks of #GenAI use before? I'd love to dig in and see how they're defining "governed #AI" that does some good for real risk reduction. LLMs gonna LLM...

Uh-oh... Time for an adventure... Looks like the second M.2 drive in this laptop has decided to go AWOL / MIA. Hyper-V seems to have gotten very upset when a VM couldn't write to it anymore. Hmmm...
My dad and his wife had segregated cats for years. One stayed upstairs. The other stayed downstairs, and never the twain could meet...
I don't know all the circumstances and factors in play, but if I knew my shot was the one, I'd probably be doing penance in silence in a monastery somewhere ... forever. ☹️
Facts.
Not entirely surprising that letting all of a building's energy-critical systems talk to a management hub creates efficiencies, and their numbers go back far beyond GenAI's reach to show that simple automation can do a lot of good...

Pretty sure I've never finished a quordle in only 6 guesses nor gotten 4 guesses in a row right... Where's my lottery ticket???

Odd... I thought the Microsoft deal was going to bypass the grid and shunt the power directly into their #DataCenter, but I've been wrong about a great many things... 🤷♂️

I love that there's a font called Shofar... I hope it scales up to about 128 point size... 😇
A4) All of the above, and (assuming!) a portion of every dollar saved needs to go into training budgets. Re-/up-skilling, yes, but also leadership, mentorship, and everything else that lies beyond the current grasp of #AI. Reach back to Deming's 14 points... #ciochat
A3) For everyone, #AI use has to be careful, thought out, and used properly to avoid the negative side-effects. In #IT infrastructure spaces, I may be seeing both less AI and more provider-centric tool use. As usual, vendor lock-in could become a problem. #ciochat
A2.2) If you're interviewing a junior person and you can only keep a straight face when they ask about "opportunities for growth" because you equally want to laugh and cry ... well, maybe move on yourself. #ciochat
A2.1) Yes, but it's worse than that in many shops. Flattening and leaning out technical orgs mean fewer mid and senior positions and in some cases fewer advancement opportunities (do -> design -> strategy -> lead) in the first place. #ciochat
Oh, lovely! They'll be selling like hotcakes! Get them in stores by Christmas so all the would-be tyrants can have one waiting under the tree to unwrap. The very soul of #DualUse tech... ☹️

I was smiling and nodding along right up to "Governance as a spend signal" and "Identity as an operational control system". Boom! 🤯 Leveraging the #DigitalExhaust of #IAM processes to amp up a host of other controls is genius!

Not sure about the allegations, but ... is it any wonder our national #ElectricGrid isn't all it could / should be if this kind of thing is going on in various electricity markets?

A1) The pressures there have been building for a decade or more. Between #cloud and other forms of out-sourcing, junior roles were already squeezed. Not really a surprise that the top dogs think out-sourcing to #AI will continue their squeeze -> OpEx trend lines. #ciochat

💯Taking advantage of privilege / power imbalances is a blind spot for many and a thrill for others. The ones for whom being bigger or stronger is only the gateway experience to what they can do with other forms of power are some of the worst. The correlation with people who run for office is strong.
I can't imagine being so small-souled, fearful, and parochial that I would try to make sure I never encountered anything, anyone, or any idea that was new to me. I don't think it's "the libs" who are the fragile, little snowflakes...

Well, I suppose there's this hidden-ish gem. If they've got one and it's been seen/photographed publicly, I've got to wonder how many more they might have... 🤔

As a relativist, I have to ask who/what would the Republicans have to nominate in order for us to end up with President Pete in 2028? Could they nominate someone or run on policies so loathsome that they'd finally fire up the non-voters and 3rd-party protest voters? I'm not holding my breath... 🤦♂️
I must be one of the suckers and losers. I've put in longer single shifts and 100+ hour on-call weeks for much lower (corporate) stakes than this. The three doucheketeers walk away this quickly? I don't suppose Pakistan would entertain sending them directly to the Hague in chains? 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
