Library news: Nick Pope: Summer of '88 is now in the collection of the Orange County Library in Orlando -- and Dandelion Crossing is now on the shelf at the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh! I'm stoked and honored! #librariesrule #book #books #bookstagram #graphicnovel #fiction #shortstories

After a few years of querying agents, small publishers, and entering contests with no luck, I'm starting to think about self-publishing my second novel.
This excellent piece by my friend Chris Stuck is in sync with so many of my feelings right now. #writing

My graphic novel Nick Pope: Summer of '88 is now in the collection of the Hutchinson (KS) Public Library! This is the first library that has acquired the book, so I'm extra grateful. #books #graphicnovel #librariesrule
Some of you know I'm a HUGE fan of the short lived series Lottery, and I've been slowly collecting eps. Patience pays off, because 1 popped up on YT 3 days ago!
I want to mention that it's been online for 72 hours and has over 2k views. Get this show out on DVD!

“Stanton and Klecker create a work that is both aesthetically compelling and emotionally resonant, demonstrating the power of graphic narratives to engage with complex questions of mental health, identity, and embodiment.”

"I grew up across the street from a public library, and it was the only place my mom would let me go on my own. It was my second home, and I read everything that I could get."

I'm stoked on this score from The Last Bookstore yesterday! I remember finding this one in the library as a 14-year-old in 1985 and covertly reading passages from it, too afraid to check out the book. #books #LGBTQ
I was in middle school when this came out, and HOLY COW it was all us seventh graders could talk about! Classic.
5 April 1974, Stephen King's 1st novel 'Carrie' was published. It demonstrated the devastating psychological effects of peer cruelty & at 200 pages, it was 1 of his shortest books. King famously threw the 1st few pages in the trash; his wife, Tabitha, rescued them & urged him to finish. #StephenKing
My graphic novel Nick Pope: Summer of '88 is a Staff Pick from Independent Book Review, and I couldn't be prouder. I'd love it if you checked out the review in the link below. (Drawings by the great Raymond Klecker.) #book #indiebook #graphicnovel #graphicnovels #1980s #mentalhealth #LGBTQ

It's like watching an 80 year old man give a 4th grade book report.
I watched the first episode of this new Netflix show last night. It unnerved me so much that I considered turning it off mid-episode and finishing it in the morning. For someone who has probably watched 1,000 horror films in his lifetime, that's saying something. #tv #horror
Just being on Bluesky makes me feel like more people read books than I ever thought possible, so thanks for making a librarian happy. #BookSky
Poster for the film "Project Hail Mary", with Ryan Gosling front-and-centre and the tagline "Believe in the Hail Mary"
Poster for the film "Hoppers", featuring Beaver Mabel, King George and the other forest animals in front of the hopping device.
I love that the two biggest hit movies in theatres right now are about the benefits of co-existence and recognising the need to work together, even if it's a different species or from another galaxy, to solve a problem affecting the planet.
I'm so pleased to share that Nick Pope: Summer of '88 is now available for purchase! Raymond Klecker did an incredible job picking up the mantle of the late Christopher Darling and continuing Nick's story. I'll include the Amazon link and links to professional reviews below!
