Thanks for following this body of work, it was an inspiring project for me!

Valid positions. Also not relevant to the fact that article, except for the final paragraph, and especially its title, is misleading.

Except it doesn’t, because NASA also contracted Blue Origin for a lander, and Artemis III is planned to go ahead with either one or both landers.
Yeah, Musk sucks, but let’s not warp reality around him any more than Twitter already does.

Same as original image, but with vastly shrunken moons. Callisto is hard to see, and the minor moons are almost invisible.

Here's a version with closer to correct true apparent size. Note that Io is the same apparent size as the Moon from Earth.

I love the composition and colour in this one. Plus the explorer ship is a great design!

Digital art drawing of Jupiter's moons as if seen from Jupiter's cloud tops. Swirling brown and tan clouds in a blue sky frame four small lumpy asteroids and four large spherical moons. Io has yellow and white regions with glowing red volcanoes and the plume of erupting volcanoes visible on the limb. Europa is white and tan, criss-crossed with brown cracks. Ganymede is brown, gray, and white, and Callisto is brown with tiny white craters. Io appears by far the largest--twice as big as Europa and Ganymede, which are about the same apparent size. Callisto is then half the size of those. The minor asteroid moons: Metis, Adrastea, Amalthea, and Thebe; are elliptical lumps much smaller than Callisto.

Commission for @zinzrinz.bsky.social of all of Jupiter's Moons, as seen from the cloud tops, with the correct relative apparent sizes for each of the Galilean moons and the inner four asteroid moons.

@phillimess.bsky.social had this toy as a kid! We had no idea what it was, given it didn’t feature in the films at all.

[alt text by NASA] The Moon, seen here backlit by the Sun during a solar eclipse on April 6, 2026, is photographed by one of the cameras on the Orion spacecraft’s solar array wings. Orion is visible in the foreground on the left. Earth is reflecting sunlight at the left edge of the Moon, which is slightly brighter than the rest of the disk. The bright spot visible just below the Moon’s bottom right edge is Saturn. Beyond that, the bright spot at the right edge of the image is Mars. Credit: NASA

Whoa 🤯

The Moon, in full eclipse, with the #Artemis II Orion spacecraft. Part of the Moon and spacecraft are lit by Earthshine, and both Saturn and Mars are visible to the lower right. Incredible. Details: images.nasa.gov/details/art0...

Thermal infrared image of Earth. Cold high clouds are white, warm ocean is dark gray or black. In some areas it is hard to distinguish clouds from land or water because the temperature is similar. Rotated 145˚ counter-clockwise, so north is to the lower-left.

I was curious what a view of Earth matching the Artemis II pic would look like from a conventional weather satellite.

Here’s a thermal infrared (heat) image from directly above the Prime Meridian at 00:30 April 3rd from @eumetsat.int (MTI1) rotated to match as closely as possible.
