Love the Baz extension. He gets good money, and (I know buying out arb years can distort things) the AAV is 4th/5th starter for a guy with a lot of upside. Excellent work. #orioles
These Carshield commercials call Eric Byrnes a “pro baseball legend.”
Props to him for an 11-year career, but “legend” is doing some heavy lifting here.
As a pro-player fan, I think this should be changed, too, but it has to come in negotiations. A few guys’ opinions aside, the union exists in part to defend players, even when they do something mind-bogglingly stupid for the 2nd time in 2 years
I get the feeling the 2 sides will have bigger issues.
#Coffee hot take:
I have yet to find a dark roast I enjoy consistently more than Folgers Black Silk. None of the fancy or “premium” coffees are any better, and almost all are worse.
The Manfred decision is an embarrassment for #mlb.
Or it would be if the commissioner’s bosses cared about anything more than their bank accounts.
Pete Rose broke THE cardinal rule of baseball, the one that goes to the game’s integrity.
He’s also an admitted statutory 🍇ist.
Fuck Pete Rose.
Pope names with “Adrian” and “Paul” highlighted. Adrian Paul played Duncan in the Highlander TV series.
Our next pope after the brand new one needs to be Duncan MacLeod of the Clan MacLeod.
👋🏻 I write crime fiction and thrillers set in and around my home city of Baltimore.
My current WIP is book 18 in the mystery series. Here’s a recent favorite:

The final season of BOSCH: LEGACY - more Bosch than legacy, but Harry is an all-time TV detective, so it’s OK. Recommended.
Looking forward to the Renee Ballard spinoff (with great casting).
Someone needs to pick up and run with the Tony Taters Bat Flip Mantle. Might as well be Adley.
This week’s B&N top indie faves.
My new thriller COLLISION COURSE got selected as a Top Indie Fave by the lovely folks at @barnesandnoble.com Nook Press!
Happy to be included. The Nook team are great partners in indie publishing.

A new book baby out in the world today.
This is the 9th #thriller in my ongoing series. At its core, the book is about family relationships and how they can evolve.
Overlaid with fistfights, bullets, and guns, of course.

Four episodes in now (out of six).
It’s not boring, but it’s still a bit of a slog. At least we got a few interesting developments this time. I can see where things are likely headed.
Season 1 remains the best, and 2 > 3 at this point.
This season of THE WHITE LOTUS is… kind of a slog. (Note: I have not yet watched episode 4.)
Great cast, but it’s mostly characters moving through set pieces and scenes. Not much in the way of real, meaty story, though the theme is carried throughout.
I hope things pick up over the second half.

I crossed the 70,000-word mark in my current WIP today.
This bad boy will be complete and to my editor by the end of the week.
Community matters, maybe now more than ever.

I have a new Substack designed for indie authors and creatives.
Check it out and let me know if you have any pain points I can cover in a future essay.

One of the best things about writing in a series is discovering aspects to your characters you didn’t think of at the beginning.
I crossed the 30,000 word mark in my WIP today (technically a little over 31k when I finished).
Things are coming together nicely, which means they’re getting worse for our hero.
Congratulations! 🍾 🔪
I cook and bake.
Joe Sheehan called Soto leaving NYY the best move the Orioles have made in years, and I really felt that.
There’s still time for a splash this offseason, but I think there needs to be one.
“December is a bad month to release a book.”
As a middle finger to conventional wisdom, I’m releasing one on Christmas Day.

“You’ve got garlic in your soul.”
Maybe the Grinch just enjoys flavorful cooking, Janet. You ever think of that?
The most tedious part is the behind-the-scenes stuff. I moved the site to a custom domain, so now I need to redo all the delivery actions (in BookFunnel) which used to work.
You can’t edit them in bulk, so I’ll need to do each one. Good thing I have days off coming up. #indieauthors
I’m moving my direct sales store from Shopify to Payhip. It’ll save me about $800 a year. While I’ll take a little hit on power, I think it’s more than worth it.
If you want to sell books from a website, use Payhip.
If you want to run an e-commerce business (spoiler alert: I do not), use Shopify.
From there, YELLOWSTONE was decent and sometimes good but never great again. (There’s too much talent on hand for it to be bad.)
The ending was probably the best we could get considering. Beth and Kayce are good characters, as are Rip, Rainwater, and Mo. Still, I wonder what might have been. (3/3)
