I'm nearly halfway through my second run and have already encountered a few characters I missed the first time. Delightful game, and also my early GOTY frontrunner. I also want to say that I cast Grease basically every chance I get and it's been MVP (MVS?) ๐คฃ

One of many things that I love about APWOT ๐
I'm really looking forward to Esoteric Ebb, perhaps I'm just in circles where it hasn't been discussed much but I'm surprised there hasn't been more coverage for it. Of all the Disco-adjacent games, this seems the most promising and distinct in setting.

Environments fully deconstructable ๐ Can't wait to play!
So good to hear Many Nights a Whisper @deconstructeam.bsky.social @selkieharbour.com getting its due! It was in my Top 10 and I think it's been so overlooked especially in a year where other games like Despelote and And Roger (deservedly!) had a lot of coverage
Great to see this highlighted ๐ I feel like Many Nights hasn't had much attention in end of year awards talk, a really great experience, together with and Roger as a game I think I'll think about for a long time.
Honourable mentions: Blade Chimera, Blue Prince, DK Bananza, Is This Seat Taken?, Kingdoms of the Dump, Like a Dragon Pirate Yakuza, Pokรฉmon Legends Z-A, Stories from Sol: The Gun-Dog, Wander Stars.
3-1 is 'safe', but they are incredible games. HK:SS is genre all-timer. Hades II follows up and all-timer and becomes an all-timer in its own right (even if story a touch weaker). CO is likely Top 5 all timer for me. Yes there's some award fatigue around it right now, but it's something special.
Order of 10-8 is tough. Demonschool has distinct flaws (pacing) and maybe not 'better' at delivering its intended experience compared to Lumines/BallxPit, but enjoying despite flaws. 6-4 pretty close, And Roger/Many Nights so hard to separate, tears at the end of AR swung it.
GOTY
X. Lumines Arise
9. Ball x Pit
8. Demonschool
7. The Roottrees Are Dead
6. Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector
5. Many Nights a Whisper
4. And Roger
3. Hollow Knight: Silksong
2. Hades II
1. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
A simple and kind message today wishing me a happy holiday, from someone I probably haven't interacted with for close to 20 years back in my Gamespot community forum days. Lots of unexpected turns in two decades, but it's nice to reminisce about younger days simpler and happier.
@ramiismail.com loved listening to your @myperfectconsole.bsky.social. Also just happened to be reading @apwot.bsky.social 1st volume and was a delight to read your contribution (the anecdote about being stuck between Egyptian and Dutch culture on whether to clear your plate made me smile). Thanks!
A sign reading "I have not read this Katamari book, and also I don't remember 100% what I told to L.E. Hall in the interviews. But I would recommend this book irresponsibly." -Keita Takahashi, creator of Katamari Damacy
The cover of Katamari Damacy by L.E. Hall, from Boss Fight Books. It shows a penguin being menaced by a giant sticky ball of tape
Still the greatest endorsement of all time
A Profound Waste of Time Volume 1. The cover features are of Shovel Knight, standing atop a shovel and staring at a distant tower as a large sun sets in the background.
@apwot.bsky.social reprint trilogy arrived yesterday. 'The Greatest Spaceship of All Time' is both tragic and hopeful, looking forward to reading more!
By the time Mina the Hollower and Lumines Arise release I may have played enough this year for a credible Top 20
and Roger/Many Nights are a coin toss over which order. Silksong TBC, could drop behind Roger/Many Nights. Legends ZA will likely make the low-to-mid list based on first few hours. Top 2 surely a lock in that order. BallxPit seems fun but not sure it'll make it.
Update:
10.Blade Chimera
9.Wander Stars
8.The Roottrees are Dead
7.Donkey Kong Bananza
6.Citizen Sleeper 2
5.and Roger
4.Many Nights a Whisper
3.Hollow Knight Silksong
2.Hades II
1.Clair Obscur Expedition 33
Excited to see what's announced! A potential definitive/'Royal' edition is the only reason I've been delaying a second play through
Dimensional time warp from Chrono Trigger.
A scene from Rez Area X. Bright neon-like lights on a black background that feels like outer space. In the centre of, a being made of light, a woman with long flowing hair.
My evening. #chronotrigger #rez
Nice things: cool posts on cool things like games and MtG, has a Chrono Trigger avatar.
Many thanks! I will double check my version and drop you an email later today ๐๐
@papercastlegames.com loving the game! But any reports of issues losing save data?? Was up to beginning of Episode 5 yesterday (playing on Steam Deck), have loaded up my game today and my profile and save data aren't there ๐ฅฒ Cloud Save seems to be fine, it's as if I'm booting up for first time
The intricacies of the combat in 2 is one of my favourite differences, the way the cast is used to manage distance and spacing is great
Incredible bundle, would be all over it if they weren't all already in my library ๐
Ah, played the demo when it came out initially (unsure if this is new demo?) and it left me very impressed. Doesn't seem to be getting the buzz it deserves, for me definitely the most promising DE style game of the upcoming ones
#Silksong is great, probably going to be second behind Clair Obscur for my GOTY. Mostly finding the difficulty on the right side of the rewarding/punishing scale. That said, a certain repeat boss on the Wish board is wearing thin on me.
But on the whole if it means quality games + talented/hardworking developers have more chance to survive/thrive, I'm in favour of the big games indicating release window with lots of notice. There is a risk to committing early but they are more equipped to handle that than smaller operations. 3/3
I don't follow this stuff that closely but I'd be very surprised if there was any malicious intent here? For the record, I'm thoroughly enjoying Silksong, never played the original, so the surprise release date meant little to me... 2/3
