Yeah I saw valid nitpicks of the initial disclosures. If there are some decent ones caught at scale though it gets hard to argue for abjuring the method completely.

Exactly. People like to blame intermediation, a la greater Internet fuckwad theory, but ease of communication explains it just as well.
It also really gives you an appreciation for the IRS design team. So much better and more understandable than the equivalent California forms!
Doing your taxes “by hand” is a great way to encounter a bunch of amazing phrases like “Individual Shared Responsibility Penalty”
It's so weird how a sufficiently encyclopedic knowledge of Python modules is indistinguishable from sentience.
Ultimately the thing that "retraining" has always mostly meant is "relocation." The workforce in America is constantly moving though the entire 19th and 20th century. It's just that our housing regulation really sucks now.
Someday I will get tired of being able to enrobe my writing in whatever corporate website template strikes my fancy. That is not today.

Truly never before has "der Krieg der jetzt durch die Länder geht" been more "Krieg gegen dich, Prolet!"
Who was it who said that the white House is basically just a hype house now?
Attention: I'll be in SF from the 26th to the 31st of April and I would be pleased to meet you, for all values of you!
I love german - seriously "Jemanden festnehmen" means to arrest someone While "Jemanden fest nehmen" means to fuck someone hard. zusammenkommen - meet zusammen kommen - having an orgasm together and don't forget the classic: gut zu Vögeln sein - to be good to birds gut zu vögeln sein - to be good in bed I'll never regret that German's my native language
Despite (or perhaps because of) this, Germans rarely engage in spontaneous wordplay. You can become the funniest person they know with puns that would be pure groaners in the anglosphere.
Space colonization is almost inherently dense! I don't see why it's incompatible unless this is a full-on Committee to Abolish Outer Space argument.
Something misfolded in my brain and it produced that pronunciation, which led mechanically to this post.
The Enigma of Niagara Falls
Yeah. Android isn't quite permissive enough anymore to have backup software that can back up everything in the user-writeable filesystem but there are still ways. And you can always use Drive like the Files app and forget about the understanding filesystem.
It doesn't back up arbitrary files and folders on your phone but then the iPhone doesn't really let you have those. And it is encrypted by default.
Traditionally you'd want to have a pipeline of continuous training to incorporate new data, but I think that's been abandoned because RAG with web search solves a lot of the "thinks it's still 2024" problem and it's so expensive.
It's amazing that we've solved arbitrary protein delivery into human cells and it's not a bigger deal.
People love filling in the little circles whom among us hasnt been tempted to fill the ballot out *all* the way
Yeah I think of it as like, every professional now has 1/5 of a software engineer at their fingertips, and they can build stuff that they simply wouldn't bother to otherwise. Will those things be good? Probably not, but they might still be useful.
I should really reread those, I suspect they were also a girlhood influence on me ways I haven't yet realized.
Just did it yesterday. I sort of think everyone should have to stick themselves in the muscle with a needle once a week. It's almost a meditative practice: You are your body but you control your body, you can freely choose pain if there's something you want on the other side.
The whole Stormlight Archive has a lot to say about religions, belief, and what you do when your morals or the facts no longer align with them. It's an interesting line he's walking.
Yeah I don't know if I would have picked these up except that during pruning season I have a lot of time to listen to audiobooks. I've been going through them with a friend of mine as we work, it's been a fun experience.
Yeah he writes like he genuinely expects his books to be someone's first encounter with a lot of moral, social, and psychological phenomena, which is a very good approach for a YA author.
I remember well the month in 2023 when the bosporus was a big topic! Perfect storm of IR guys and classical history guys.
It's weird how the back half of this sweeping epic fantasy series has ended up being largely about mental health.
Yeah I noticed that in the acknowledgements of Book 4 and immediately thought "oh no the alters are in danger." There were some good parts and the ending wasn't as bad as I feared but it did all basically paint within the lines of DID.
