My new book, Feminism
For a World on Fire, is out 7 May and I was on Start the Week this morning with a preview of some key arguments.
Environmentalism without feminism is the patriarchy in a forest.
But feminism without environmentalism is a women’s centre on a dead planet.

Just received my first printed copy!
As I was writing I sometimes wondered if looking so deeply into the threats facing women was making me overly apprehensive.
But we can all see now - the world is burning, and women are bearing the brunt.
How do we resist?

The UK must immediately and unequivocally suspend support for the US military.

The Government have tried to appease him, then they tried to say they're standing up to him.

Words aren't enough - it's time for action.

Today I’m sitting in a studio recording the audio book of my new book, Feminism for a World on Fire.
When I chose the title it sounded like a metaphor.

Take a look at this Telegraph obituary of Charlotte Raven in 2025, clearly written by ChatGPT, which attributes my book, Living Dolls, to Raven as co-author and misrepresents its thesis. ☹️ www.telegraph.co.uk/obituaries/2...

Scientists captured female sperm whales on video working together during a birth to protect the calf Scientists have captured rare footage of a sperm whale giving birth, offering a window into the large mammals' behavior.

How incredible: “The full delivery took about 30 minutes. For hours afterward, pairs of whales held the baby above the water until it was able to swim…
What struck the researchers was how many mother, sister and daughter whales united to support the new calf, even ones that weren’t related.”

Horrified by the antisemitic attack in our city.

Antisemitism is vile and has no place here.

Solidarity with the Jewish community in Golders Green - and with our communities across the country who will be feeling this today.

What can one say? It’s impossible to read this and not to be filled with horror and sorrow. What Israel is doing in the West Bank is unspeakable.

The tributes to Jenni Murray are focusing on her interviews with powerful and privileged women. Here at Project Resist we would like to pay tribute to the fact that she always made sure the voices of the most marginalised and vulnerable women were heard. 1/2

At a time when women are so divided and solidarity is so elusive, Jenni Murray understood why refugee women’s rights are part of the wider struggle for equality.
Thank you Jenni for the support and the solidarity.

Back in 2006, I & some friends wanted to start a new initiative for women crossing borders.
We began with a single event, at which refugee women’s stories were told and connections made.
We invited all the women we knew who we thought might listen! Jenni Murray sat in the front row and

So sorry to hear that Jenni Murray has died. Such a warm and empathetic radio presence, and just as great in person. I was lucky to be interviewed by her more than once. Much missed.

As someone who has lived in the same flat for more than 25 years, I can tell you it's even weirder realising that what you still think deep down is your cute new sofa/wallpaint/coffee table is actually very old and worn and... what does that say about you...

I so remember my first long journey in a car. I went through the map first and wrote out all the key junctions and road numbers and key towns in big letters, and propped that on the dashboard for reference. It was terrifying!

I find it funny he says this, as it shows how we are simply losing the memory of pre digital life. We think we must have spent days on the phone then scrabbling for information because we can’t imagine how we lived without google. It’s already so hard to remember that foreign country, the past.

You went to the local high street travel agent to book the flight. You bought the guide book or read the adverts in the back of a newspaper and phoned one hotel or just turned up and trusted to luck. Days on the phone!? That’s something that only started with smartphones and unlimited calls.
