Dragon Quest is very, very good

I have a lot of love for Dragon Quest.

It's my favorite series of all time, and holds some of my favorites games of all time.

And one of the things about the series, which is extremely rare, is that there literally are no bad games.

That's a hill I'm willing to die on.

Warframe

Warframe was one of those games that aesthetically always spoke to me, but that I never tried.

That changed yesterday. And oh, boy.

This is a doozy.

I had an MMO/competitive PvE-grindfest-itch in the empty timeslots during my day, and Warframe SCRATCHES.

So insanely fun.

You can't have light without darkness. You can't have good things without bad things. You can't have success without failure. Failing is the best way to learn!

Dragon Quest XI 11 Jasper & Hendrik

Episodic narratives and vignettes are in my opinion Dragon Quest's biggest strength in terms of its story-telling, and the story about Jasper & Hendrik in DQXI is one of the best.

The moment-to-moment writing of stories like this is such an underrated element of Dragon Quest.

Yes, please. Maybe just even SOME news.

Dragon Quest 12 XII Dragon Quest 5 V Concept

It would be cool to see Dragon Quest XII expand the concept of Dragon Quest V by combining elements of both classic Dragon Quest and Monsters, taking the core aspects of the franchise and highlighting them; traditional JRPG gameplay and the monsters.

May 27th, please come fast.

Dragon Quest Slimes

Here's to the Dragon Quest Slimes.

Not to overreact, of course, but the Slime is one of the best designed monsters of all time.

There are many reasons why Dragon Quest is as celebrated as it is, but one of them is the timeless designs of the late, legendary Akira Toriyama.

I've been playing Cassette Beasts in my very limited spare time, and I've got to say that it's a shockingly good and deep monster tamer.

It's pretty rare that we get a game in this genre that has such fleshed out mechanics, systems and depth.

I highly, highly recommend it.

Amazing video game.

Love the special animations in Pokémon TGC Pocket.

Especially when it's from hitting this beauty.

Honkai Star Rail

I'm having such ambivalent feelings about Honkai Star Rail.

I'm not a huge fan of how some female characters are so needlessly s*xualized, but the game is actually super fun.

They have managed to create a pretty immersive world, and a really good turn-based combat system. Which I love.

Dragon Quest XII 12 2025

This is going to be an extremely exciting year to be a Dragon Quest fan.

DQI & II is releasing, which is going to be insane - but I'm also counting on hearing some more news from the team regarding Dragon Quest XII.

Good chance there will be a connection between it and Switch 2.

Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition looks amazing.

After absolutely devouring the trilogy these last years, I've been yearning for more Xenoblade, and X has always been gnawing at the back of my mind.
Can't wait to get my hands on it and play it for the first time.

Dragon Quest I and II HD-2D Remake

2025 means one thing.

Dragon Quest I and II HD-2D Remake.

They're coming out this year.

If 3 has been this surrealistic to experience as a remake, I can't even imagine playing 1 and 2.

It'll be very interesting to see how they tackle the party-systems (and lack thereof).

Dragon Quest 2025 New Year

Happy New Year, everyone.

It's been a hectic, chaotic, but hopeful 2024.

Citizen Sleeper

I just want to show appreciation for Citizen Sleeper.

Absolutely amazing CRPG, and is getting a sequel in early 2025.

So underrated.

Go play it.

Okami HD Nintendo Switch

Been itching to play Okami ever since 2 was announced, and man.

It's seriously one of the greatest games of its generation.

I'm still amazed by the art style and how they managed to perfectly capture the traditional Japanese brush-style in a PS2 game.

Play it. It's awesome.

This makes it (according to the best selling video games wiki-page) the 15th best selling video game OF ALL TIME. That's absurdly awesome.

Yeah, the characters have actual design, and are not just thrown in a skirt.

Gacha Games: Genshin Impach Honkai Star Rail Wuthering Waves Arknights

I need to get this off my chest.

Gacha games can be fun.

BUT.

Can we just sometimes tone down the sexualization a little bit?
To each their own, but I personally get very thrown off by it.
So far Arknights is one of the only ones that hasn't shoved it in my face.
I just want to play a game.

I bought Halls of Torment a week or so ago, and I'm floored by how fun it is.

Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake Alefgard

Even though there are cutscenes that underline the sombre atmosphere in Alefgard in Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake, art direction here is just top-notch, not to mention the soundtrack that really hits you in the gut with emotion.

So cool to "revisit" Alefgard in this way.

Awesome! It's such a gem.

Dragon Quest VI 6 Realms of Revelation

Yesterday it's 29 years since Dragon Quest VI was released.

It's still, to me, one of the most underrated JRPGs of all time.

Some of the things I absolutely love about this game include the very polished vocation-system (one of the best in the franchise) and the world building.

This makes me so happy.

Hard carried by Japan undoubtedly, but Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake selling 2 million units this fast is a really good sign that the franchise is looking at a very bright future.

I can't wait to see what they're cooking up with DQXII.

Dragon Quest III HD-2D is such a good remake.

I'm hesitant to say perfect, but I really want to.

It's not about what could have been.
It's about what is.

And what is, is the definitive way to play Dragon Quest III and one of the best JRPGs out there.

Also, I love this place.

I'm not sure I know a series that does world building quite like Dragon Quest.

In every single game, the world is almost as much the protagonist as the Hero, and adventuring through the world is always the most important part.

Dragon Quest is just so special, man.

Also DQIII HD-2D is perfect.
