I realize this is not the only thing going wrong at all, but it was a very bad sign

Wow, the Mets are being a crushing disappointment and the season has barely started who could have possibly predicted this when we let the best player on the team go to another one because apparently rich people won’t want to pay for anything ever

In June, my friend is going to help me switch my office and my bedroom and the choice is so obvious that I’m annoyed with myself for not thinking of it 3 years earlier before I had acquired way too much shit as I tend to do.

People-powered leadership just works.

Honored to cross-endorse with @eonforassembly.bsky.social and @cct4nyc.bsky.social as we fight for bold, transformational change in New York. I can’t wait to partner with them in Albany.

Governor Hochul has made very clear she will keep allowing government agencies to collaborate with ICE.

The only way to make her change course is through a strong primary challenge from the Left.

The power to force Hochul to end collaboration with ICE—and to tax the rich—lies with us, via Delgado.

I'm glad more people are posting about the New York for All Act, which would stop state + local agencies in NY from collaborating with ICE.

But Hochul won't sign it unless Delgado's numbers rise in the polls. To pass it, boosting #NY4All isn't enough; we need to boost @delgadoforny.bsky.social too.

I came to Minneapolis to report on what's going on, and one of the main questions I showed up with is "just what is the scale of the resistance?" After all, we're all used to the news calling Portland a "war zone" or whatever when it's just some protests in one part of town.

The way to succeed as mayor is to do this kind of stuff, make the city more livable and work better for more people everywhere you can. What the Democratic Party, NY Times and Post don't get this about Mamdani because they all imagine themselves as top down "big idea" people, when Mayor is bottom-up

it's like... they could have just DONE this at any time and instead it remained horribly dangerous as the DOT ignored it

The more unhinged this regime gets, the more they have a narrower and narrower definition of what's "acceptable" the more I suspect people are going to rebel

real conversation at the hold steady show last night:
"what's up with the guy wearing a suit with sharks all over it"
"that's the shark guy"
"why is he the shark guy"
"he has 9 toes and tells people the 10th was bitten off by a shark"
"word"

Social Housing for New York Is on the Table Free-market housing policies will never generate mass affordable housing — which is why a new bill in New York sponsored by socialist legislators aims to make publicly owned social housing a reality.

and to create the social housing authority - permanently affordable housing for ALL income levels. no more carve outs (i see you, 421-a) jacobin.com/2024/02/soci...

Rent Increases and Rent Overcharge

i filed a rent overcharge complaint and it will take up to 2 years for me to see any relief because the state office in charge of these cases is underfunded and completely backed up. it will get worse as more new yorkers realize what's going on. you should file anyway tho. hcr.ny.gov/rent-increas...

the only thing the state has started doing is fining landlords who don't register their rent stabilized units - $500 per unit per month. that got my landlord to register his units but he stated the wrong price for each one in my building - some are higher or lower than actual price.

Apartments Vanish From New York’s Rent Regulation System and Questions Linger About How Three years after a 2019 overhaul was supposed to stop landlords from removing most apartments from rent stabilization, thousands are left unaccounted for.

there is NO and i mean NO enforcement or mechanism in place at the state level to make sure landlords aren't overcharging rent stabilized tenants. @thecity.nyc has done great reporting on this. www.thecity.nyc/2022/12/23/r...

Am I Rent Stabilized? Find out if your NYC apartment is rent stabilized!

now that there is (rightfully) more attention being paid to rent-stabilized apartments, i really hope a critical mass emerges once folks realize how many of us are getting overcharged far beyond the legal hike each year. please request your rent history: www.amirentstabilized.com
