I kinda agree with the first part but the second part of this post I think a lot of people are forgetting how the internet and computers in general were talked about in the 90s. Because it was actually exactly like that

this skeet was so good yesterday that a friend and I had a bet about which American would restate it
I was an adult at the time and I remember when cellphones flipped from being laughable tech for spivs to a must have for everyone. It was one ad campaign about how much safer your loved ones would be if they could call you all the time. Next thing you knew, they were everywhere.
I don't recall any previous transformative technologies that had to be sold to the public so hard. No one in 1999 was going, "Guys. Cell phone? It's coming, whether we like it or not. I think it's important, FOR WOMEN ESPECIALLY, to learn about cell phone. So that we're not left behind!!"
Finally started writing some sort of draft about estonian comics history (a lot I've left out here bc I want to link sfuff in the real post)
quivkly-drawn phone-notepad doodle of author's reaction to Scott McCloud replying on their random bsky post. Text: "should last anothr 15 years". Text2: "Scott McCloud?"
had to draw a response reaction when I first saw this bc I was not expecting a reply haha
thanks! you should see the other book! It's possibly even more dog-eared and I haven't even gotten to patching it yet.
I'm lending both to a friend right now for research use. He's writing his masters paper on autobio comics (and doing an autobio comicbook as a thesis too!)
strengthening the corners of this scott mccloud book (it's been thru a lot through 15 years of moving and studying. sorry mr. scott mccloud!)
Alex Cole @acnewsitics X.com MAGA treated the 13 service members killed during Biden's Afghanistan withdrawal like the worst tragedy in American history. Now troops are dying in Trump's war with Iran, and the outrage has magically disappeared. 7:41 AM • 3/13/26 • 194K Views
Also the war in Afghanistan but ONLY the 7 months under Biden. We have a monument to those 13 deaths in my town, zero outrage over the Iran war…
The New York Times reporting on how Trump and his inner circle came to the decision to attack Iran is so infuriating lmao.
"Ultimately, his inner circle trusted his gut because he'd already gotten away with so much he shouldn't have."
BECAUSE YOU DIDN'T HOLD HIM ACCOUNTABLE.
YOU!
AHHHH!

Two drawings of a young woman with long red hair flowing in the wind as she smiles. She is wearing a white dress, tan sandals, and has a red ribbon tied around her waist.
Found an old sketch of Luna in her festival outfit! Decided to do some quick ink/color practice!
For some reason putting my OC doodles in panels makes me draw better, comics have gotten into my bones!!
Digital art of two orange and blue unicorns joining horns in the middle, one being sun-themed while the other is night-themed.

Comics are literature worthy of academic study
The cover of Lunar Boy. Indu sits on a pile of objects and looks out to the pink and blue sky. He's bordered by a giant moon
Panel 1: Jes and Cin (identical twins with short hair) depicted cheering happily as they stand next to a cover of Lunar Boy. The essay reads: “Lunar Boy is going to be out in May and it feels unreal. I’ve said that a lot when working on this book. That it feels “unreal” to be bringing this story to existence. And I should explain why!” Panel 2: Jes walks through a display of movie posters and bookstands while holding a book. The essay continues: “When I see representations of queer people of color in the mainstream, it always felt like something was missing.” Panel 3: Cin being overcrowded by fantastical characters, a robot, a gorilla in a spacesuit, a cat princess, and a woman with a sword. The essay continues: “Especially in stories of happy queer escapism.”
Panel 1: Continuing: “Their stories often revolve around their white queer friends,” A white woman points to herself as her other hand holds a Black woman’s hand. Who is off to the side. The white woman says “This story’s about ME.” While the Black woman says “I’m here too.” Panel 2: Continuing: “They’re stripped of cultural specificity” a white woman shares a meal with a dark skinned hijabi woman. The white woman has a burger while the hijabi woman holds chopsticks, ready to eat her noodles. Dialogue above them reads “Ugh, why can’t the character just HAPPEN to be Muslim?” “So stereotypical.” An arrow points to the right showing an edited version where the white woman is unchanged and still eats a burger, but now the hijabi woman doesn’t wear her hijab and is also eating a burger. The dialogue above them reads “much better!” “Finally, a universally relatable diverse story!” Panel 3: Continuing: “The intersection of their identities,” a venn diagram showing the intersections of religion, POC, queer, and diaspora. Panel 4: Continuing: “or the histories of their communities, would never be acknowledged.” A woman solemnly stands in front of a grave bearing a bouquet of flowers. On the grave is a small candle and cup with the trans flag poking out of it.
Happy Trans Day of Visibility!
Here's a comic essay we made last year about Lunar Boy and QPOC representation 🌈📚

Two characters kissing in a bathtub, one is a mermaid the other is wearing an office work attire. There are ghost fishes floating around them.
Can we quit sincerely telling people that having their works plagiarized is flattering? It's a violation.
hbomberguy nailed it when he broke down how plagiarism is not done out of admiration, it's driven by disrespect. Nothing flattering about that.
Something about being Southeast Asian and watching people try to argue about how manga is inherently more transgressive than American (cape) comics.
It's just colonizer on colonizer action where you're painting both mediums with unfair generalizations.
Quit acting like Japan is some uwu underdog with no history of imperialism that seeps into some of the art that they make. It's weird.
