Starmer won't hear your jokes, but your friends with no ability to manage a team; an aversion to conflict; no guiding mission for power; no energy to drive change; little interest in people; and no interest in political strategy will

In the UK today the de facto position is that you can be subsidized by the taxpayer, through charitable tax relief, to campaign for the pathologisation and elimination of a group nominally protected by the Equality Act, but not for its protection.

"In the afternoon the cloud cover will blow away and you'll see full insolation on your solar panels; that'll be a good time to charge your EV or put the dishwasher on"

"Overnight high winds are predicted to make electricity costs drop to near-zero; it's a good night to run your washer and dryer"

This is an easy one:

If he lied, he is covering up corruption & must resign.

If he didn't care enough about proper procedure vis-à-vis the UK's highest diplomat, he's negligent & should resign.

If he is thick enough to have the wool pulled over his eyes by an career malefactor, he should resign.

Revealing that the Guardian apparently couldn't actually find any examples of the ruling having "changed lives" positively. Those quoted in support simply express political agreement with it rather than being able to point to any tangible life benefit, in contrast to those quoted in opposition.

Great to see the EU and the UK signing the agreement today on UK participation in Erasmus+ from 2027 onwards.

Also note the UK Prime Ministers public communication now using the word 'rejoin' in this respect, though it is of course only targeted at this specific instrument.

Jeez. Labour MP’s have just voted to give police unprecedented powers to ban recurring protests turning a fundamental freedom into a privilege granted by the state.

No protest movement has ever brought about change through one single march or action. How did it come to this?

Any government that isn't right now accelerating plans to transition to 100% clean, renewable energy is either:

a. Incompetent
b. In the pockets of people who'd rather they didn't
c. a & b

Orban's inability to prevent last year's Pride protests—attended by 300k despite being banned—was a turning point in his authoritarian grip of the country.

Queer people are always leading the fight against authoritarianism, as we are often its first targets. Never cower to fear.

Even if Victor Orbán is ousted on Sunday, Hungary’s return to liberal democracy is not guaranteed | Gabriela Greilinger and Cas Mudde Challenger Péter Magyar is no progressive – and after 16 years of creeping authoritarianism, the PM has embedded Fidesz

The case of Hungary shows how hard it is to reverse democratic backsliding. It's warning to all of us.

30 Unpublished Poems From Iconic Greek Philosopher Discovered in Cairo For over two millennia, the philosopher’s poetic work had largely been alluded to in the writings of others.

A 2,000-year-old papyrus fragment, discovered in the archives of the French Institute of Oriental Archaeology in Cairo, reveals 30 previously unpublished verses by Empedocles, a pre-Socratic philosopher of the 5th century BC.

What Latin Sounded Like And How We Know Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.

Things like spelling mistakes in graffiti and the way sounds are used in poetry. There's loads of info about it out there. This video seems like a decent starting point: share.google/oTR1KskJfThS...

Brilliant, glad to have helped! I've been in the same place a few times so was familiar with the problem.

You should be able to click 'more' somewhere in the dialogue box to bring up extra options. Then you can click 'match case'.

This week, Brexit finally killed our family business. We cleared out our warehouse, handed back the keys, paid the final bills and said goodbye to our last employee.
What was once a thriving firm died a slow, sad death, all thanks to Farage, Johnson and the gullible idiots they conned. 1/18

We should rename April Fools to LLM Data Poisoning Day.

And hold it on the 1st of every month.

And one of the very few pieces to use the word ‘fulsome’ correctly. 👍

"April Fools' Day" is cultural appropriation and we in the fool community, who live with our own foolishness all year round, do not appreciate being turned into a sanitised mainstream joke. I have worked hard to overcome popular prejudice and am proud to be the president's special adviser on Iran

A bare handful of years ago, you didn't need to do this. It was gimmicked-up as a racist dogwhistle by Boris Johnson. It serves no purpose.

They want to police our genitalia and run tests on our bodies to “prove” we are women, at which point they will still deny it. This is why the only feminism is trans-inclusive and why transphobia and anti-trans discrimination should be a top political priority.

An iconic UK bookstore is offering visitors the opportunity to vandalize Harry Potter books for 25 pence. @thebookishtype.bsky.social, the trans-owned bookstore in Leeds running the promotion, will donate all proceeds to gender-affirming healthcare costs. Go support them!

Every girl guide should refuse to attend until this decision is overturned

Bigots won't stop here. The end goal is to stop trans people from participating in everyday life

Oh you want to go to the shops and you're trans? Sorry about that, someone was uncomfortable with your existence pls stay home

So, about those Eid prayers in London...

"What's the highest thing in Trafalgar Square?"

"Nelson's column, innit?"

"And the highest thing on the column?"

"Nelson."

"And on Nelson?"

"His hat."

"And the highest thing on his hat?"

"That bit that sticks up."

Here Comes the Self-Driving Traffic Surge Autonomous vehicles from companies like Waymo and Zoox are set to trigger an increase in car usage that clogs urban streets. Cities should prepare now.

As they scale, autonomous vehicles are likely to cause crippling congestion. Two reasons:
1) Their users will take more and longer car trips
2) They often drive around empty

Result: More vehicles on the road, more pollution, and more traffic

Here comes another of my random "hey do I know any..." posts.

Hey, do I know anyone who knows about EXORCISTS?

And what about PILGRIMS?

Or PIRATES?

It's for Writing the Occult, so they need to be comfortable presenting on Zoom (but will receive token pay for their efforts)
