S03 E15 - We Find Joy A memoirist and a musician take us on their journey to joy.

So happy to be on “Pop of Culture” where Jen Blackmer asked great questions and Luke Jones came in with his stellar editing to make us the best versions of our talking selves. The theme? Joy. indianapublicradio.org/popofculture... @pinestatepublicity.bsky.social @univnebpress.bsky.social

Thank you, Roz, for sharing. @dianegotauthor.bsky.social led such an amazing conversation, and of course, @dintywmoore.bsky.social has been an important part of my writing life as long as I can remember having one!

Thank you, Assay! So many cnf buddies are in here with me! I forgot to celebrate my book's birthday yesterday, so this is it: the writing exercise at the root (pun intended) of my writing practice and teaching. (Spoiler: it's an actual tooth.) @riverteeth.bsky.social @pinestatepublicity.bsky.social

My train and boat material is sourced from Michael Martone’s classes lo those many years ago, and the concept of TACKING has grown into some of my best advice for writing the hard stuff. @riverteeth.bsky.social @pinestatepublicity.bsky.social

Love and Grief Jill Christman’s latest memoir, The Heart Folds Early, brings the reader directly to the epicenter of reproductive justice. The writing is raw and vivid, and Christman’s candor illustra…

Fun to appear in my college-town paper—which was in my day called WHAT’S HAPPENING & was the place we looked for “Missed Connections”: if you know you know. I even dug up a photo of me at a protest. I’ll let you figure out which one is me. Thank you, Nicole!

I’m here for all the conversations. I had this thought after I talked with @gaylebrandeis.bsky.social for The Chicago Review of Books. . . my brother Ian died in May 2025, but he is always in the room. @pinestatepublicity.bsky.social @univnebpress.bsky.social

Vote, y'all! A beautiful--and sad, very sad--essay by my pal @silashansen.bsky.social (And, also, "Linger"! And, also, the man didn't even get to hear the song until 2018! Very very sad.)

A bearded man holding a toddler

This is me with my Uncle Mark in 1971. Today would have been his 79th birthday, but he died just shy of his 50th while serving a 10-year mandatory minimum in a federal prison for growing marijuana. He was a gentle, hilarious, big-hearted man & I am thinking about his so hard today.

Jill in a a Camaro with her AWP schedule

During the pandemic, I went home to Washington state to see my mama in the mountains and Alamo was fresh out of compact cars, so they asked if I minded taking a bad-a$% Camaro instead. Reader, I did not mind. Can't wait to see y'all in Baltimore! #AWP26 @riverteeth.bsky.social
