xAI has disabled Grok, deleted a slew of its antisemitic and neo-Nazi posts, posted a statement, and are evidently rolling back the prompt that made it identify as "MechaHitler," but this new low for Elon Musk's chatbot will live in internet infamy:
The turnout in small towns across the country has been incredible drawing crowds of thousands. We’re already seeing over one million in attendance nationwide, and events are still underway. Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Ohio all had especially surprising showings.

More than 1,000 march in Sackets Harbor in support of detained children, mother
In more uplifting news, 1,000 people protested ICE’s abduction of a mother and children at the home of the agency’s acting head Tom Homan.
Notably, the entire population of the town is just 1,450.

What is a bigger deal, IMO, is that the New York Times is still leading with this, even as the largest mass protest is US history is happening.
Even the Amazon Post is doing better. Even the LA Times is leading with the protests.
Today was a good start. Next we will see how it is reported…
Is it buried? Is it framed weirdly? Is the one incident of violence amplified?
And then, what happens next? Do the millions who didn’t come out today realize that they have power if they only use it?
Or does this fade out and die?
Let’s go with “Over 1% of the US population” as a lower bound on how many people took the streets today to say #handsoff
Tied for the 3rd-largest protest in US history
George Floyd / Black Lives Matter (2020, 15-26 M)
Earth Day (1970, 20 M)
Women’s March (2017, 3.3-5.6 M)
How’s the reporting?
Okay lets game this out: You are a Nintendo employee given unlimited funds and authority to move Switch 2 production to the US. No new factories, that's going to take way too long, you need to work with existing American Contract Manufacturing capacity. How fast can you do it?

@mezentine.bsky.social did the Chicago Trib catch up, or are they still burying the biggest mass protest since COVID?

Okay so, hear me out.
Did Trump just put /SANCTIONS/ on the United States?
The effect of a universal tariff is to cut the US out of the global economy. But the global economy does not have to follow suit.
What will we see if the world responds by lowering trade barriers on all BUT America?

Good showing today in downtown SLO, it was nice to see so many people showing up, making signs, yelling chants, and enthusiastically honking for democracy.

Massive crowd at Hands Off rally in St. Paul, Minnesota
Wow. #HandsOff rally in St. Paul, Minnesota is massive!
West Coast numbers are coming in, and estimates have now surpassed 5 million. People are still pouring into the streets—nearly 2% of the American population is rising up. America, we are so proud of you. You did it.
THREAD: Last year, ProPublica started receiving tips from an unusual kind of source: flight attendants. They said they'd worked on deportation flights for ICE, and they could tell us what it was really like on board. 1/
When flight attendants asked how they could safely evacuate detainees, whose wrists were shackled to their ankles, in the case of an emergency, they were told to save themselves. The utter disregard for the sanctity of human life is beyond shameful.
Our Response to these latest tariffs is to fight, protect, build.

AB healthcare overlords ran like the wind Tues, formally reversing the policy that would have denied child cancer patients a simple juice box or popsicle
But, as usual, they fled making excuses and accusing others of “misinterpreting” the policy

The writer suggests Democrats should stop defending “trans/gay” communities right now.
