I get that social media can be a toxic environment. But can someone explain to me why the worst of the worst and ignorant people seem to flock to the biggest cesspool platforms like x/twitter, kiwifarms, 4chan, and yes... Even reddit.

Has society really devolved that badly? 🤦‍♂️

They got me too... I'm sick of companies claiming to be "unbiased" when they clearly just copy/paste things without proper fact checks.

Regardless of what your opinion may be of me, I'm a human being behind this screen.

Sure, I scream and shout on Tiktok and x about political stuff... But at the end of the day, it's because I CARE... to the point where it IS detrimental to my mental and physical health.

Think of it this way, it's like my brain is an old MP3 player with Sarah McLachlan's song "Angel" on a non-stop loop.

Normally I wouldn't be so open/transparent about my issues, but it's really taken it's toll on my mental health recently.

I'll be blunt...

Depression sucks. To the point where looking at social media for even a second feels like torture. And enjoying things that I regularly do, like video games, feels impossible. Granted, anxiety plays a role in that too. And sleeping and a good appetite are practically non-existent.

Well, it's that time of year again. For the next 48 hours I'll be away from the hellscape of social media and conservative slop, to spend time with family. So I hope all of you (that DIDN'T vote for a spray tanned racist tyrant) have a safe, warm, and merry Christmas!

Truth be told, even here on bluesky it feels like a similar situation except for the opposite party. Here it's like a Democrat echo chamber, where as on 🐦, it's a republican echo chamber. Granted, the good thing being that at least bluesky feels like somewhat of a safe space.
