It’s such a niche thing but I have found myself speaking, writing, and thinking clearer since I began studying Japanese grammar.

Learning a new language has actually improved my English a bit too! I’ve realized that all languages have the same core principles that are just applied in different ways depending on the language! :) it’s really cool I think

From this point on, I’m going to use two anki decks to learn from. One deck will be from general n4 vocab and the other will be from immersion practice.

That is not your fault. You shouldn’t have to worry about them because you are free to do what you want. If they are opening social media in public, they should be expecting stuff like that.

since i started learning, I have always tried to translate a Japanese sentence in my head as i was reading it instead of understanding it in Japanese directly. I honestly think i should change my approach because it makes it difficult to understand complex sentences.

I’m jealous that you are familiar with so many languages haha. At the moment, the only language that I am fluent in is English, and I have always wanted to know what it’s like to be able to speak more than one language. I really hope that one day I can be bilingual or even trilingual.
