Two awesome grilled cheese riffs: the “Grateful Dead” version (RIP Bob Weir) with garlic‑salted bread, and one with thin slices of pear and Brie topped with sage leaves on sourdough that gets toasted in butter.

Thank you so much! I appreciate your help. I’ve knitted for years, but still learning proper crochet technique. As this is for a costume, I am OK with the seam in this instance, but am now inspired to crochet hats for gifting (so much faster than knitting!) and want to achieve an invisible join.
It is “Oma’s Curlers” by Sara Sach at Posh Pooch Designs. Here is an example of one of the rows: Ch3 counts as 1st dc, 1 dc in the same st as the ch3, *1 dc in the next 3 sts, 2 dc in the next st*. Repeat From * to * around, Join, ch 3 (later rows do not call for 1DC in same stitch as C3).
I just took a reading break from The Jasad Crown a few minutes ago. I am almost to the end and it is SO good! I’ll be sad when I’m finished though because I love this story so much.

The image shows a person holding the book Everyone Who Is Gone Is Here by Jonathan Blitzer. The subtitle reads: “The United States, Central America, and the Making of a Crisis.” The book cover features an illustration of a bird composed of various symbolic images, such as maps, palm trees, and official seals, representing themes of migration and geography.
I just finished #everyonewhoisgoneishere by Jonathan Blitzer. It’s a powerful look at the complex history between the US and Central America, and how it has fueled the ongoing #migration crisis. Excellent for understanding the root causes & human impact of this critical issue. 5⭐️ #immigrationpolicy
A medium-sized, fluffy gray and brown dog with a purple collar is resting its head on a person's lap. The person is wearing blue jeans. On the person's lap is a light purple knitted hat with a dark red and purple patterned band and a tree design. The background shows a bed with a patterned orange, gray, and white bedspread and a gray knitted blanket.
A close-up, overhead shot of the crown of a light purple and gray hand-knitted beanie. The decreases create a swirl pattern of knit stitches meeting at the very top center of the hat. The background is slightly blurred but shows a bed with a patterned orange, gray, and white bedspread.
A close-up shows a person's hand holding a ball of variegated burgundy, deep pink, and white yarn. In the foreground, slightly out of focus, is another ball of light purple and gray variegated yarn. The background is a blurred, textured gray surface, possibly concrete.
I made this #headingnorthhat a couple years ago using Malabrigo Washted in Pearl and Heirloom Vegetables colorways. This yarn is divine! #showmeyourknits #malabrigo
I spent two days in Libby Limbo because my library card wouldn’t verify. Just when the March issue of Booklist Reader and a book hold became available. Longest two days of my life! 🥺 Thanks to the amazing librarians at my local branch for helping a sister out. I’m back in borrowing business again! 🥳
The cover of the book “Oath and Honor: A Memoir and a Warning” by Liz Cheney. The cover features a photograph of Liz Cheney, a blonde woman wearing glasses and a dark blue blazer, sitting at a desk. Behind her is part of an American flag. The title is in large white and red text, with the subtitle “A Memoir and a Warning” below in smaller white text.
In February, I read Liz Cheney’s memoir Oath and Honor, about J6 and the resulting investigation by the House Select Committee. It illuminated how fragile our democracy was during the events of J6 and how imperative it is to protect it from enemies foreign and domestic. Highly recommend. 4⭐️

It turned out great! I am an experienced sourdough baker, but made the mistake of forgetting to warm the water before the 1st proof & thought it’d never rise. I threw it in a slightly warmed oven for the second proof and it finally got all marshmallowy and just right for baking.
Three golden-brown baguettes rest on a cooling rack. The baguettes have a slightly elongated shape and are scored with three diagonal lines along their length. The cooling rack is made of metal with small holes.
My son and I made a starter last night and have been proofing the dough all morning for baguettes. My kitchen smells amazing!

Beautiful! Fellow knitter here. 🧶 Is this Malabrigo Rasta yarn? The colorway is gorgeous!
Babel by R.F. Kuang (amazing!) and just started Everyone Who is Gone is Here by Jonathan Blitzer as it’s very timely with the immigration EOs signed this week.
The image shows a stack of four books placed on a windowsill, with a small ceramic planter on top that has a face design. A trailing plant emerges from the planter, cascading down over the books. The books are as follows: 1. Ignorance and Bliss by Mark Lilla - A teal-colored hardcover book at the top of the stack. 2. Outraged by Kurt Gray - An orange book with bold black and red text. 3. The Migrant’s Jail by Brianna Nofil - A bright orange book with bold black text. 4. Hyper-efficient by Mithu Storoni - A yellow book with black text and a small blue logo. The background is softly blurred, showing hints of greenery outside the window.
Books pulled off the newsroom bookshelf. Which to read first? OUTRAGED! or Ignorance and Bliss: On Wanting Not to Know 🤪 #booksky
If you like fun cozy mysteries, the Flavia de Luce series by Alan Bradley is delightful and usually available on Libby. If you like old gothic witchy type books, I have read (and re-read) Thornyhold by Mary Stewart so many times the spine glue disintegrated. Anything by Bill Bryson.
I’m glad my Mom read it with me because otherwise I’d have asked her, “where do I even begin in describing all that took place in this story?” I also found myself jotting down new-to-me vocab words. I love when I encounter an erudite author’s work!
She writes The Empyrean series, which has a new release coming out this week (my neighborhood bookstores have sold out midnight release parties planned). I’ve got Fourth Wing but haven’t read it yet. Curious about this one!

I own both James and Everyone Who is Here is Gone. I used to travel for work to Latin America including C.A. countries and the U.S. role over the past century is something the avg American may not know much about: UFC, military coups, proxy wars, immigration policy. Looking forward to reading.
The cover of Babel: An Arcane History features a detailed black-and-white illustration of an elaborate tower, resembling the Tower of Babel, surrounded by gothic-style spires and domed buildings under a starry sky. Birds are flying around the tower, adding motion to the scene. The title “BABEL” is in large, bold, gold letters at the bottom, with “An Arcane History” written in smaller, white text underneath. The overall tone is dark and mysterious, reflecting the book’s themes of power and complexity.
I’m finally getting around to reading BABEL by R.F. Kuang. It delves into colonialism, power, identity, and resistance, exploring whether oppressive systems can be reformed or must be dismantled. A timely tale of language, exploitation, and the fight for justice in a fractured world. #booksky
5⭐️. I co-read this with my mother and we were both captivated by its beauty and depth. Atmospheric, lush, vivid, poignant, multilayered and haunting. The story was so much more than I expected it would be. #booksky
