Very similar to the people who think Russia is communist.

This movie is endlessly watchable. I have seen it more times than I care to admit. It's expertly crafted and smarter than people give it credit for.
I am becoming convinced either major political party could clean up by going after junk fees.
"Who here hates paying an extra $5 because you bought your ticket online? We're getting rid of them! Who hates paying $20 because the money was in your savings account instead of checking account? Gone!"
Bjork has given us her hitbox. I expect the lab folks to have her frame data ready for the rest of us by EOB
It's so weird. When Google exploded on the Internet I don't remember people designating themselves as Search Engineers.
Grading and googling hallucinated citations, as one does nowadays, and now that LLMs have been around for a while, I've discovered new horrors: hallucinated journals are now appearing in Google Scholar with dozens of citations bc so many people are citing these fake things
I have been on there this whole time and my feed just got filled with incredibly racist stuff. It doesn't feel like a platform over there. It feels like a propaganda machine to convert me.
Most use of LLMs is as a replacement for Google search because search has been broken by SEO's. What people really want is a way to input a question and get a quick answer. We had that for years and it used to be faster and cheaper!
I mean, we just tried this and it lead to the situation we're in now.
Fun fact: the government already has all the information they need to do your taxes for you. They could send you your pre-filled tax return and say, "Sign here if this is correct" and 95% of people could get their taxes done in 5 minutes.
Instead we have Turbo Tax Hell World.
April is your yearly reminder the only reason you have to spend hours filling out your taxes is because companies like Intuit (Turbo Tax) lobby the government to make it as hard as possible to do your taxes so you will buy their crappy software every year.
Don't be afraid to tell someone how much they mean to you. A sincere and honest complement to another shouldn't feel weird and is often the highlight of someone else's day. Let the people you care about know you love them.
This is sort of the skeleton key to understanding a lot of shit: there 100% is a non-trivial amount of inefficiency and waste in the federal bureaucracy, and most of it is a *direct result* of ‘reforms’ that are meant to assuage the people who complain about “waste and inefficiency in govt”
Everyone remember how well this went when Twitter did something similar?
I saw a Let's Go Brandon shirt out in public today and it made me create this graph.
Google is embroiled in anti-trust lawsuits. There's a reason they want to be on the adminstration's good side.
Because they are trying to curry favor with the new administration.
This is the dumbest culture war I have ever experienced.
Weird that you consider the single most important and urgent issue to be "niche."
My 4-year-old got on my computer and started sending stickers to random people. This one made it to someone at work.
Any update on this?
I refuse to learn what the Rizzler is. I refuse. You can't make me.
I don't know. I'm not seeing much here to grab my attention. Most of what I see is just commenting on how much this place has grown. That's going to get old fast.
I was reading what happened to the AP Calculus teacher depicted in Stand and Deliver and the school muscled him out for getting too famous and wanting too much control over a program he built from scratch. This "crabs in the bucket" mentality is so disheartening!
Thank you.
One of my biggest long-term concerns is the decline of our collective sense of community. We have successfully silo'd ourselves away from those in our towns and neighborhoods in favor of like-minded spaces on the Internet. This lack of engagement with others fuels many of our political problems.
Biden insisting he should run again despite showing serious mental decline while the entire Democratic party looks the other way and lets him do it will be seen as one of the serious political blunders of the 21st century.
