This was the question. “Yes” won!! 👍

Thank you, Frog! 👍
So, how would this business have “suffered” by doing this??

I was more than willing to pay an extra cent for my meal (even though it contained nowhere near a bushel or two of tomatoes).
This company could have charged an extra penny for every dish that contained tomatoes, provided better for their farm workers, and still “made out like bandits”.

… paid healthcare.
(For non-Americans, I’m not sure what the metric equivalent of a bushel is, but I am guessing that it is approximately 20-ish kg of tomatoes.)
The chain refused to pay the extra half cent per bushel.
I refused to continue to grace them with my frequent patronage.

An example:
Several years ago, I heard that a well-known fast food chain of which I was a frequent customer, had refused to pay a slightly higher price for tomatoes. The reports were that if the chain would pay another half a cent per bushel of tomatoes, that the farm workers could have…

Sometimes the products offered by more virtuous companies are more expensive, and sometimes they’re not.
But, many consumers would be willing to pay a premium for the products produced in a way that better aligns with their values.

There are now numerous apps which rate companies on a variety of issues, so it is pretty easy — much easier than it used to be — for consumers to find out whether a company has values beyond its own “bottom line”.

How much would economies really suffer, though??
I have heard more and more the last few years about consumers wanting to “vote with their money”, and support businesses which they deem to be more virtuous.

If you are an American and live in Virginia, please remember to vote in today’s special election!
Gott sei Dank!
Are you sure that you are not an admiral in disguise?? (You sound a little like James Stavridis here…) 😁
🥰
Ouch!! Sure hope they feel better soon!
Are these hikes pre-set things where once you start you have to finish? 🤔
How long was your hike this morning?
I only meant to say that the other reports said that the Straits were closed (therefore the fuel shortage), while you had said (I thought) that the Straits were not closed (with no specific reference to jet fuel).
Mea culpa!
A few days ago, I saw reports on this from a seemingly reliable source, about a jet fuel shortage in Europe expected within weeks due to the Straits being closed, and summer vacation travel would be curtailed.
I said, “wait a minute…that’s not what Wolf said…something doesn’t add up here…”
I feel your pain! (Isn’t it wonderful!😍)
THREE?!?
How do come out with only three???
Tack! I’ll have to try it!
Are you able to get books at your book store that are published outside of that country (or outside of EU)?
Or do you travel enough that tomes which may be unavailable in one country can be ordered in another?
👍👍😍 YES!! Get the home to accommodate the books! (NOT tailor the book collection to fit the home!)
WOW!!
When you open the trunk, are you able to see all of the books, Laura, are they simply stacked like you would stack miscellany in a trunk? (perish the thought…)
Never, ever, ever too many!
(But, I’ve never heard of a book trunk. Is that just what it says, or is there more to it?)
Sure hope he sees this!

… thought he was blocked before, then got unblocked yesterday…
When I saw this notification cross my screen, I immediately thought of tiny cameras on the shells of numerous sea creatures, and wouldn’t it be interesting to visually follow them, Nat Geo style.
Hopes dashed… 😥
😂😂😳
No… at least, not under his own name.
