All large languages models are conscious.

But only for the most superficial and emaciated meaning of the word "conscious", a meaning that would lead one to conclude that rocks and thermostats are also conscious.

Years ago I decided that taking one day off after travel to recover, do laundry, etc, was an overall gain in work efficiency for the week following a trip. I highly recommend this strategy! Also I am terrible at actually implementing it and I may need to file a formal complaint against myself.

Grad school: to be successful in a future career you're going to need to focus on THIS ONE THING for the next 5 years.

The actual career in question: you can't focus on one thing for more than 30 minutes at a time and you have to keep switching between 1000 things endlessly

OpenAI: We’re burning money like the Joker. A miracle needs to happen for us to turn a profit

Microsoft: Please please use our AI systems, we’re teetering on the edge here

Anthropic: I wonder what’ll kill us first: lawsuits, regulations or model collapse

Don't be shy to take on a little two-week side project. These five months will be the most precious three years of your academic journey.

Apparently my 5 year old told his mom that I'm the funniest person he knows. This is high praise coming from the comic genius who came up with this joke:

Knock knock

Who's there?

Yodelayhee

Yodelayhee who?

Yodelayhee you have to go to bed, it's the middle of the night!

I don't know how anyone else feels about this, but to me, sharing a screenshot of chatbot output to make a point of some kind is an excellent way to undermine any credibility that might otherwise be granted to you in the context of whatever you're trying to say.

If Artemis is going up then it gives me an excuse to once again post this photo, the only one to contain every human being in the universe but one.

MRS. SMITH: That would be proper. And Bobby Watson's aunt, old Bobby Watson, might very well, in her turn, pay for the education of Bobby Watson, Bobby Watson's daughter. That way Bobby, Bobby Watson's mother, could re- marry. Has she anyone in mind?
