Mark Carney has a lot of strengths but I don’t think understanding normal working people’s jobs, and what makes them more or less interesting and rewarding, is one of those strengths.

Everybody getting excited about Trudeau at Coachella like they don't remember Diefenbaker going to Woodstock.
Lougheed and Klein succeeded in marginalizing separatists on the political fringes in smaller right-wing parties. But today’s separatists count themselves among the UCP’s most enthusiastic activists and were part of the populist wave that swept Danielle Smith into the Premier’s Office in 2022.
It might be time to start building that ark.
I remember hearing that the Willow was supposed to be a temporary exhibit when they first reopened the park. I’m glad they kept it. It’s iconic now.
It’s a great experienced but early is key. There’s not too much natural shade once the afternoon sun is high in the sky.
Sometimes I think about this tweet.
Crude oil futures open with a bang. WTI up 9% to $105.
It's pretty hard to understate how good this news is. Hungary's obstruction in Europe, done at the behest of Russia, is likely over.
But it's unclear just what Magyar will mean for Ukraine, e.g. www.epc.eu/publication/...
Good article. This isn't going away. Sigh.
"It’s highly unlikely they are just going to abandon their support of separatism if and when the referendum to separate from Canada fails. They are now an entrenched force that could have a lot more legitimacy and political capital after a referendum."
And now with Nuestra open there’s good coffee just across 112th Ave.
Borden Park is easily Edmonton’s best park.
The first weekend in May is Jane’s Walk time, and I’ll be back as a walk leader. This year, I’ll be guiding my guests through the history and renaissance of Borden Park. Walks are all free, but registration opens next week. Walks fill up fast! #yeg #Edmonton #janeswalk @janeswalkyeg.bsky.social

When preservation is caught in the crossfire, it’s not just libraries that lose—it’s the public’s access to history, knowledge, and truth.

President Trump is awake and long-posting.
“Effective immediately, the United States Navy, the Finest in the World, will begin the process of BLOCKADING any and all Ships trying to enter, or leave, the Strait of Hormuz”
Hmmm so I agree that we should avoid the mistakes of Brexit, but I think Nenshi isn't doing that. Brexit wasn't slept walked into. Brexit was an illogical expression of reality bringing about change. Long-term economic dislocation, identity and cultural change & distrust of institutions.

Nenshi wants to avoid Brexit mistakes in fight against Alberta separatists.
Alberta politics is going to get a lot noisier and more confusing during the months ahead.

NEWS: Less than 24 hours after a multi-day
hearing wrapped, an Edmonton judge ordered a temporary pause on the Alberta separation referendum petition process.
Pause doesn’t mean much with the time frame at hand, but Chiefs Adam and Sunshine are happy.

NEW: On the final day of arguments for First Nations efforts to quash the approval of a separatist referendum petition at the Court of King's Bench, chiefs raised questions about collaboration between government and separatist lawyers.

Breaking!!
The court issued an interim stay already on the separatist case heard this week! 👏
NEW:
A court has issued a stay in any certification of petition results or making referral to the Justice Minister until the court has ruled on applications by ACFN/Blackfoot nations.
Decision does not impact the continued collection of signatures for the sovereignty petition
