I’m thrilled to be writing an adventure for Dungeoncraft's Deathbringer Kickstarter!

I grabbed the Prof's first release back in 2022. His videos pulled me back to the ❤️ of old school D&D.

If you live for OSR play or Shadowdark, this one’s for you 🤘🏻

The covers of the CORE20 playtest PDFs, with art with Xavier Beaudlet. The “Playtest Player’s Guide” features an adventurer and their white tiger companion looking out at a haunted tower. The “Playtest Magic Grimoire” features an adventurer stepping into a glowing portal in a dark forest. The “Playtest GM Guidelines” features a shadowy archway opening up into a jungle ruin. And the “Playtest Creature Package” features a red dragon awaiting an adventurer standing in the entrance to their cavern lair.

The #CORE20RPG is a new approach to d20 fantasy, built on a foundation of freeform characters with no classes and no levels. It turns the aging “pass/fail” core d20 mechanic into fuel for shared storytelling — and you can play for free right now!

Ryan Dancey’s take about replacing game inventors with AI at Alderac aged like milk.

AEG has now parted ways with him.

This is a cottage industry. Put artists and creators first. The moment we replace human creativity with AI, we lose what's special about games.

I couldn’t be happier with the amount of support this has gotten.

Thank you all so much. It really means the world to me

Small world!

When I was the creative director of games at Andrews McMeel, I worked w/ editor Erinn Pascal who had a great relationship with the Neopets team (she wrote their cookbook).

I wrote an original pitch for their team. We pass due to high royalty: docs.google.com/document/d/1...

It's #PortfolioDay again and I'm urgently looking for remote work in game writing/narrative design‼️

I’ve been an indie dev for 10 years and I have worked with clients in the industry since 2019. I also create the Twine Grimoire and volunteer with IFTF.

Ken “Whit” Whitman, notorious in tabletop gaming for various get rich schemes and scams, is back trying to promote a Best Tabletop Designers of All Time Facebook page where he ranks creators using generative AI slop entries and art.

Please don’t feed the troll.

The complaint against metacurrency is silly, because Experience Points are also a metacurrency.

In my view, DMs should focus on pacing the session and let in-game minutes and turns stay flexible, using time only when it supports momentum and fun.

2 months ago 2 0 0 0

Poor pacing kills excitement far faster than loose in-world timing, especially because players do not naturally make choices that always push toward the next compelling beat.

2 months ago 1 0 1 0

The real driver of fun is what happens at the table before the game session ends.

So the “time” a DM should track is the session's length and rhythm.

2 months ago 2 0 1 0

How long it takes to search a room or the length of a combat turn is basically arbitrary.

The DM can call it 5 minutes, 10 minutes, or an hour and it rarely changes the experience in a meaningful way.

Time tracking in Dungeons & Dragons and other tabletop RPGs is a waste of time.

The more I think about time tracking in Dungeons and Dragons and other tabletop RPGs, the less important it feels.

What actually matters is session pacing. 🧵
