Love meetings in San Diego since I can surf for an hour at dawn and still make it to the meeting in time. #AACR

I must have missed checking the box that asked AACR not to give my e-mail to a million companies when I registered for the annual meeting. "Unsubscribe all" needs to be an e-mail function!

Put it on the old mount that came with the 5SE and did lunar tracking (other OTA on AM5 and didn’t have time to swap). Manual adjustments every minute or two to keep the region it was supposed to transit in frame, I guess I was the auto guider!

International space station passing in front of the moon

International Space Station transiting the moon just a few minutes ago. Not good seeing tonight and angular size was only 35" since the moon was pretty low, but always fun to capture it. Will be sad when it deorbits. #astrophotography #ISS #internationalspacestation

Chenxin, MSU already cut the CMSE bioinformatics training program... but we're trying to set up a workaround since this was the single most attended series of graduate classes. The dean was (is) clueless as to how valuable this was. It literally cost only a single FTE to run.

Back from Birken 53km Ski Race in Norway. Epic race with 10K people finishing in Lillehammer Olympic Stadium. Recovering from bronchitis, #Delta lost my skis, got rentals that dragged the kick zone and was 3 hours slower than the last race (7:27:35 total time) - but still had a fantastic experience.

I'm a faculty mentor to a new assistant prof that gets an automatic tenure clock extension due to a maternity leave. HOWEVER, this delays tenure and the associated raise by a year. After tenure is granted, are there any universities that backdate the raise to the normal tenure clock?

Certain institutes are worse though, NCI was a payline of 4%... so 13% looks pretty nice right about now!

Asona Lui @ucsdhealthsci.bsky.social and I @sdsuresearch.bsky.social are PIs on one of those three funded applications! Our research is going clinical 😍😅🥳🧪 [I'll do a 🧵on how taxpayer $$ directly contributed to this shortly] #ShareGoodNewsToo

Had to close my office door and mute my microphone during meetings today... Agree on the lineup too! Crosby news at all? Canadians should get a national holiday when their teams play! Don't get to see tomorrow live, will have to unplug internet and hide phone until we can watch.

Build expertise first: why PhD training must sequence AI use after foundational skill development Generative AI tools have arrived in PhD training environments faster than principled frameworks for their use. The debate has polarized between enthusiasts who argue trainees must adopt AI immediately...

PhD programs worldwide face an urgent question: How should trainees use ChatGPT, Claude & similar tools?

Now online: two resources on thoughtfully integrating generative AI into research training.

RAIN?!? I've got the Birkie this weekend (53 km classic XC ski race). VASA race last weekend was 50km and I'm ready to ski, NOT ready for snow to melt! #birkie

Well you're apparently special! Mine absolutely refuses to link my ORCID iD, it throws an error that there are duplicate accounts, but they can't find said duplicate accounts. Helpdesk was trying to help last week but no luck yet. Also a good chance to practice HTML code to format it. Go 1997!

42 miles of XC skiing meant I needed many coffees to work on the R01 until the wee hours of the morning. BUT somewhere around mile 30 I got a good idea for Aim 3 and had to revise!

Quick trip to Lake Michigan where the sunset was playing with the ice and mist/cloud coming off the water. Further out the ice wasn’t quite visible, but it is out there.

Also it formats to just blocks of text (may be a PC/MAC thing) but if you need to, use HTML to make it look good...
<BR><BR> for a line of space
<b>Text in bold</b>
<i>Text in italics</i>
<u>Underline text</u>

Sciencv biosketch help... if your personal statement and contributions to science lacks spaces, bold... then you have to use old fashioned HTML code in the text. IE this:

<BR> for a line break, do it twice if you want a line between
<b>Text in bold</b>
