if ever there was a sign to show how durable buddleia is… how could that have possibly survived such an inferno?

Architecture is important. I’m terrified for Glasgow Central Station but this is such a dangerous situation for those fighting the fire.

Truly distraught with what’s happening in Glasgow. Thoughts with the firefighters of Scottish Fire and Rescue Services. Stay safe.

One of the things I love about Glasgow is the host of little museums you can stumble across.

This one is in Glasgow Royal Infirmary. Had no idea it was there!

Either a typo, or there are very large parts of Fort William I am yet to find/explore. Enough to hold 5,603,231 residents.

Adding @arlingtonbaths.co.uk to the thread of ‘using ‘Grade’ to describe a listed building in Scotland’ shame.

Grade A listed…. Grrr. Buildings are ‘Category’ A listed in Scotland. ‘Grade’ is the term in the English system which is numerical.

A long overdue proposal in my view.

‘Archaeology had its heyday during the 1800s’ say this museum.

Remember an American fella asking me that exact question when I worked in tourism. Young me was too polite to call him out as an utter fool.

Bonn boasts a wealth of museums. For my final day I did about four of them, including Bundes Kunstmuseum, Beethoven House and the Landesmuseum. The last one hosts another favourite Late Roman artefact. A 4th century dice tower!

The inscription reads:
"Picts defeated
Enemy Destroyed
Play at ease!"

Listed Buildings… Wonder what percentage aren’t ‘buildings’. Constant irritant describing a bridge or statue as a ‘listed building’.

Pictish stone that stood for 1,200 years 'massively damaged' as wind blows it over Heritage chiefs were told of concerns about the safety of Aberlemno 3 just last week.

Awful news about the Aberlemno 3 Pictish stone. HES surely will reconsider how these stones are preserved.

Putting the box on them always felt like an anachronism. But so much of their charm will be lost if this and their setting is changed.

Notice you don’t have ‘The Lady Florance Stone’ at Ewes. A really unexpected thing to stumble across. Well off the beaten track. In lieu of my own photos…
