life is kicking our butt but (hah) we are still makin music!!! just did a new song in one sitting (!!!) that we’re pretty pleased with, going to try to get that up on The Platforms shortly 🙂
if you get it on Bandcamp, you also get liner notes with the chords to "Hey, Boy!" and the tuning of "There You Go" (the notes are pretty easy to work out from there!)
there's only one guitar in the whole album :-P even the bass part in "Give Us" is a guitar transposed down — we do HAVE a bass (and it was right next to us while we recorded), we just didn't use it. still not sure why, actually xD
"Hey, Boy!" and "There You Go" were both written in advance, but "Give Us Something On Drums" was entirely improvised with a multi-track setup — none of the instrumental parts got re-recorded, we just added layers on top! (which is why it floats untethered by "metre" and "tonality", lol)
the whole album is by Gene and Sticks, but all the lyrics are by Gene, except roughly 1/2 of the dialogue in "Give Us Something On Drums", which is courtesy of Sticks! (he's on the right-side track!)

trying to record songs... how not to overmix/produce? we have a habit of making things too complicated (vocal backing lines, synths, whatever) & there's got to be a happy medium but it's impossible to find :c #musician #indiemusic
