(Ugly cried at the school board meeting tonight when the soccer team was recognized and he was the first name called because he had been voted the district MVP - and the coaches vote on the all-district teams before the playoffs, so these weren't sympathy votes.)

Shanks's human, a woman with brown hair and green glasses poses (with her mask very briefly lowered for the photo) between a woman with short silver hair in a blue dress and black jacket and a woman with curly dark hair in a purple jumpsuit and a grey jacket. They also have glasses and are wearing flowers on their lapels. (Aww, that's good to hear. I definitely assumed the measuring tapes would have been an honest mistake since those tend to look pretty similar. Didn't mean to assume badly about the hoses!!)
(I would like to think this was an honest mistake, at least, but cripes that's a lot, and the hoses seem a little harder to "accidentally" take!
I think I may have last left the stool open in the garage, and I can imagine them using it when they were working on the porch & accidentally packing it.)
(If only I knew what happened to my step ladder. I think the crew that painted my fence may have accidentally packed it up with their things. ๐ญ
But hopefully this ordeal will not be repeated any time soon, either.)
Screenshot from the Fitbit app showing "Other activities" at 8:37 pm Moderate activity, detailed as 25 zone minutes and 139 calories.
(My watch logged 25 minutes of "moderate activity," but I wouldn't be shocked if it counted the time I was going room to room scooping the litter boxes as part of that time, honestly.)
(She was probably only out for 20 minutes or so, but it was scary- I think for both of us!)
(ELEVEN cats - which, too many, I know, but different conversation - that could have gotten out and NONE did. ๐ฎโ๐จ)

(She, Penny & Fogg were in their respective rooms, but unless the door popped open while I was in the driveway [it's a janky house, so who knows] anybody else could have wandered out. Nerves was standing right in the doorway like she was the welcoming committee.)
(She hasn't really seemed too interested so far, but that is one reason I have been keeping her in "her" room when I'm at work, just to be on the safe side. And I don't know if you saw, but a shocking ZERO cats got out the other day when my door got open while I was out.)
(When my ex and I bought our house years later, he loved to let them out in our little yard, and it always made me nervous if I wasn't out there with them, but they never left the yard. Fenway did get sprayed by a skunk once, though. ๐ค)
(I panicked when I realized they had gotten out, but when I opened the door to go looking for them, Yaz was waiting right there for me, and fraidy Fenway was sitting in the bushes, practically right under the window.)
(That reminds me of my first two kitties [who were probably at least 3 years old at this point]. I was in a new apartment and opened the windows on a nice fall day. They managed to push through the screen like Wonton, but luckily I lived on the first floor then.)
(Or maybe she was freaked out by the overgrowth by their fence, although I don't think it was so bad by the gate. Regardless, we eventually found a spot where I could reach her- and she let me [which normally isn't a question, but I didn't want to freak her out more]- pick her "up" and take her in.)
(It took a lot longer to finally get her OVER than it probably should have even though she seemed pretty desperate to get back by then. Maybe it was the dark that made her unsure because I think there were a couple parts in the fence she could have safely walked through + I nudged their gate open.)
(After checking the yard pretty carefully, I was starting to place my hopes that she still had good instincts from when she first found me and was putting food out on the porch before trying a walk down the street when I heard her meowing. She was just "stuck" in the neighbor's yard.")
The tail of a juvenile grey-brown tabby can be seen poking up from behind the top of a decrepit fence. Despite a sizable gap between two pickets, the rest of her body is obscured.
(She's fine now, but Debs gave me one heck of a scare tonight. She got out when I was taking out the trash, and I think I either startled her when I tried to scoop her back up or she thought we were playing, and she ran off way too fast for me to keep up/see.)
Thamk yous, frend!
