Adam Morton Chris Bowen to begin Cop31 climate summit president's role remotely Chris Bowen's role as president for negotiations at the Cop31 climate summit in Turkey later this year will kick off remotely. With the fuel crisis raging and Bowen giving daily press conferences on the government's response, the climate change and energy minister said he would not fly to Berlin next week for the Petersberg Climate Dialogue, an annual meeting of representatives from about 40 countries. A spokesperson for the minister said he "considers his travel carefully" and would not fly for the meeting hosted by the German climate action ministry on Tuesday and Wednesday. "In this instance he will take advantage of the virtual attendance and continues to engage closely with all his international counterparts. Australia will also not be represented at ministerial level at the first global conference on transitioning away from fossil fuels in Colombia starting next Friday.
Australia's energy minister is skipping global meetings on accelerating the phase-out of fossil fuels because he has to stay in Australia to deal with the fallout from not phasing fossil fuels out fast enough.
Ah, the cabbage kid. Brilliant stuff.
It's mad that they're going from Victoria; the Waterloo to Portsmouth train is much quicker. Thank you for sharing as I love Wet Leg, Joe, and I grew up on the Isle.
A HUGE, narrative-breaking moment for the UK car market
New EVs are now cheaper than petrol cars on average, says Autotrader
Last yr CCC said price parity was due by 2028 – and it's already here
And EVs are already MUCH cheaper to run than petrol
And the woman did speak unto the hound, saying, What do you mean, normal men, and the hound answered the woman, saying, We are just innocent men. And great was her emotion
The alarms must have been ringing at painful volume. And yet. Political expediency. I remember, at the time, the appointment was loudly praised by the commentariat. Set a thief to catch a thief.
Imagine the vetting that ambassadors etc must get. Imagine how hard Mandelson must have failed...
Friend got the promotion and worked at BP for another couple of years in an elevated, but still lowly, role.
I had to decide: do I lie or do I say it as it is? I chose truth. Said, yes, friend is wicca and I am not, but friend is the most ethical person I have ever met. Yes friend's father was an alcoholic, but friend is not.
His mode of questioing was insidious, so calm, so reasonable. There were things I was anxious about: friend's father was an alcoholic and friend was wicca,
He was straight out of central casting. Obviously the product of an expensive education and yet instantly forgettable. I remember the mac he was wearing and the general outlines of good tailoring, but no specifics.
The promotion involved an increased security clearance. So I was interviewed John Le Carré style in a café by a senior spook.
Here's my tiny anecdote. Once upon a time I was a reference for a friend who was up for a promotion at Buckingham Palace (BP)
But we all know the work instant messaging platform houses the least grammatical, most error strewn, corporate jargon gobbledegook know to man or beast.
Perhaps the RBA's next Instagram post could explain how punishing apple purchasers with higher mortgage repayments is a sane response to a grocery oligopoly exploiting its market dominance...?

Oh one more thing: If you cannot donate (no worries! I get it!), you can in whatever way you think best, spread the word about Callisto. We want people to know it exists. More info about the org & the April 24 Day of Reckoning (a free awareness campaign later this month): www.projectcallisto.org
My observation and lived exp is that those of us who use public transport are using it more this month. I have been getting buses much more often and both the buses and the trains seem busier. But, likely, that increase does nothing to make PT more attractive to car drivers...
Niche, but the Cockney rhyming slang for this is Hank Marvin, which I will admit to using with some frequency. This is extra obnoxious given I am not only not a Cockney but also I live in Melbourne...
The questions are deranged. I scored 85 and am, apparently, an adrogyne.

We will be with you in London. We’re sorry for the girls left out and the friends they leave behind. We and many other women believe there’s a better way.
We applaud you for standing up. Have a great day all 🏳️⚧️
I'm so fucking furious tonight. The rage will never subside. I deserved better, these girls deserved better, all of the women who came before me and will come after me deserve better.
I realise I sound like a cunt, but that's what parenting in capitalism does to us.
My kid went to a fee-paying school. All the kids did work exp. I pulled strings to get my kid into sth meaningful. School was useless.
